DnD and ttrpg rolls in general aren't so specific, everything is the DMs disposition and DnD is mostly house rules whenever you want something custom. As a DM I usually just let players decide who goes first in a hallway, Initiative is reserved for when moment to moment actions are necessary. If initiative was in place, than Vax would fail, then percy or scanlan would have to try it, but we see Vax trying and faling multiple times, thats because the DM allowed him to try as much as he likes, and the punishment for failing be using up resources and wasting time. DnD characters each have their respective stats, which include passive stats, thats to say if its a bening task, the DM can just use the passive stat as the value aginst a DC (Difficulty class) So when something happens in the background, you don't always call for a perception roll, you use the passive perception. For an example. The players are being watched, the Difficulty Class for the roll is 13, the rouge and bard have a passive perception of 15, so they notice but the others don't " Now i only used those numbers as an example, stats for characters are also rolled for, or there is a point buy method where you can allot a pool of points into custom stats etc.

Congratulations for getting through what is considered the worst of Alien Force. That new alien was actually the one seen at the very end of season two when they tried to give Ben an entirely new set of 10 before they changed their minds. Also that last episode is the most infamous one, rumored to only have been made as a middle finger from the creators to the executives and suits who were responsible for forcing all the new requirements for season 3.

When it comes to deaths in dnd and ttrpg, unless the player for some reason doesn't wanna come back, after the character dies, eighter the DM puts the player on haitus and makes a satisfying plotline where the character can be revived, or the character is dead and the player comes back with a new one
