Before they get to Season 5, Episode 11 of Gumball the Coptcats we gotta give them the outside context behind that episode before watching it, imma comment a shot detailed non-spoiler explanation when they get closer to it in the future XD I would recommend them watching a yt vid explaining it but they all contain spoilers , hopefully they see my comment when I do that

Gen hope that discussion about shippers wasn't contributed to by me, really, REALLY sorry guys. Avatar is a big hyperfixation of mine so I often type alot because I like to share info with content creators when they're watching the series, I know some fans can be crazy with the ship wars and I didn't mean to come across that way if I did. I couldn't give a damn who ships what and the fact people get violent over that stuff is nuts to me, as well! I only wanted to give context to the fandom's opinions since you were discussing it/asking questions in the reactions, but regardless enjoying Korra with y'all so far and the Pokemon movies have been fun recently too

When it comes to the oppression of non-benders it is also worth noting that the council that leads Republic City are all benders AND aren't elected. Which is an issue with leadership in the world more generally. Outside of the Earth King in ATLA, who was kept in power by a military force of benders, every national leader and virtually every regional leader who wasn't extremely local was a bender. So non-benders have just less overall voice and access to power than benders do. They might not be OPPRESSED exactly, but they are lacking in representation and opportunities when compared to benders.
