I'll have to push back on the "japanese dub goku sounds bad" take. Especially after a discussion about not having watched Dragonball. It's literally the same voice as Dragonball. Sure, she doesn't exactly deepen it that much like they did for Naruto Shippuden, but it wouldn't bother people as much if Dragonball had come to the U.S. before Z. I'm not dissing the US dub, never heard it, watched an abysmal local dub when I was a kid, then rewatched the whole thing in Japanese and later Kai. Actually, watching original Dragon Ball would be a fun, as a lot of people aren't familiar and it's genuinely good and kinda wholesome.

I hope you all react to the movies and specials soon especially the first Bardock one. A lot of them have references that appear in the actual episodes later on.

Racer D. Ratt

This is soo good. Highly reccomend watching with canadian subtitles.

DBZ's dub is great, though there are many options to pick from, which is where the fanbase argues over which is the best. Would love to see Boom react to DBZ, but not the KAI version--only due to the fact of what is removed/added isn't always the best. DBZ is so much more grittier, I love the animation the most, but it does suffer from long winded scenes of nothing happening. Pros and cons, really. =/

I actually really love Goku's Japanese voice. It's somehow both childlike and old. Also I'm down for Boom to react to DB and Z

Demi

Yes I would watch you react to DBZ Boom, but I would hope if yall do react to the series start on the Original Series when Goku was a kid, then I would actually say watch DBZ Kai, it strips out most of the filler and makes the series much less tedious imo.

DBZ was on a different channel before it was on Toonami. Also, the 'DBZ japanese voice are bad" is a VERY hot take, I feel Masako (goku/gohan/goten voice actress) gets a lot more behind her screams than Sean Shemmel does, and she's over 80 at this point

Gavynnnnn

No. Save Canadian for a rewatch, those are absolutely terrible for first-time.

Gavynnnnn

Kai Uncut is actually in most ways better than Z. The only issue is in the lighting redraws.

Gavynnnnn

Yeah, when you mention it the power she puts behind her screams is much more than Sean Schemmel is still willing to do. Don’t get me wrong, Sean Schemmel put more in than she did in a couple isolated spots, but she’s far more consistently efforted than he is.

Gavynnnnn

Considering the future schedule put out, was this upload an accident?

John Cabral

I'd love to see them do a comparison reaction to some of the scenes between Masako and Shemmel

Here’s a Frieza fact, Frieza’s race grows their armor from their own tissues and can freely remove them and swap it out like clothes

Cloud Kitsune

There is an uncut version of Kai? =O I just know they did a lot of censoring that DBZ left in, plus Kai itself is a bit too "clean", which is a currently common style from Toei nowadays that I dislike. XD Especially the shine-touch. Makes their characters look like plastic dolls then people, ya know?

Not John

I agree with your opinion on the dub but it's definitely a hot take.

Frieza Fact: In the Original Funimation Dub, Frieza WAS voiced by a woman, Linda Young. Pretty much what most US Millennial fans recognize the most. In 2009, TeamFourStar casted Martin "LittleKuriboh" Billany as Frieza, the one you hear here, between Seasons 1 and 2. Coincidently, in 2010, Funimation would cast Chris Ayers (Rest in Peace) as Frieza in Dragon Ball Z Kai and all other Dragon Ball media going forward, and the voice would sound veeeery similar at times to Martin's. Again, it's pure coincidence, as based on production timelines, both Billany and Ayers would've been casted approximately the same time.

Forgot I had blueberry muffins until the muffin button was mentioned. Now I am eating blueberry muffin =D
