I hate the "opposites attract" justification for shipping because it lets a lot of toxicity slip through as something "romantic." If you can find another reason to ship them, go ahead. But "just because they are opposites" isn't enough for me.

as a kid I actually didn't like this episode but the animation still looks so good and re-watching with u its reallyfunny. for me "the great divide" its so much better 😅

Never been a fan of Zuko and Katara as a ship, though I might be a bit biased as I preferred Zuko and Sokka's relationship--but it doesn't really get showcased until later. XD Plus, Katara and Aang were always too sweet in my opinion, it was hard to ship them with anyone else.

It seems like a fluff episode, but it's actually meaningful in a number of ways. Among other things, 'you have the power to shape your own destiny' is a powerful line.

You can say that it’s “not that deep” to you, which is valid and correct. But communication is a two-way street. Your listeners (me included) may have an entirely different reaction which is still valid and correct. Try to think about it from an outside perspective.

Honestly, Zutara makes a lot of sense for more than the fire/water element but also just for their story arcs in general.

The original idea was actually Zutara. But they listened to the viewer and that was a different ship (back then at least).

Self-fulfilling prophecies get them all the time though. That could technically be what is happening to Sokka. The crops would be good that year due to the volcanic ash fertilizing the soil, and of course the village was saved!
