Hey everyone,

I've been slogging away at the release of the next version of MuseScore, which will house my new notation font. My video about this effort (which is also a secret notation software review too) is going well.

I thought I might share a few scores which have been styled with the new default settings. The notation font alone is only 1/3 of the effort. Equally as important is the new text font and style settings too.

I normally don't yap on about MuseScore that much on my channel, but in this instance, I learned a ton about notation design and that process is definitely something I feel deserves to be documented in a video.

Anyway. Video's a comin!

The font is beautiful. It’s really got that good old publishers look to it that I’ve been wanting for years now. The closest I ever got was Bravura. This font is exactly what I’ve been looking for. And as someone who has been using MuseScore for almost 6 years, I’m really glad to see the major improvements you and the team are bringing.

Really beautiful and impressive! Will the font be free to use in other programs?

I've sent it to the Finale team who are implementing SMuFL (the standard that w are using) in a future version. We've optimised it for Dorico, so that'll work on day 1. There is also someone who has expressed interest in creation a version that will work in Sibelius (although that will take a few months to prepare). The font itself will be freely available.
