John Davenant's Dissertation on the Death of Christ has now been put into a hardcover version by popular demand.

"The work A Dissertation on the Death of Christ may surprise Reformed readers used to such works as Owen's (in)famous Death of Death.

Davenant here, against those of the stricter "Limited Atonement" school provides a robust defense of the universal extent of Christ's atonement as to its sufficiency. In this, he outlines a truly Catholic vision of the atonement, drawing from the Fathers of the Church such as St. Augustine, and the Medieval Scholastics such as St. Thomas Aquinas.

This work, while helpful to those who are Reformed, is helpful to readers of other traditions, providing a polemic against Reformed arguments for a limited atonement from someone who knew the Reformed quite well (even being a delegate at the famous Synod of Dort). Further, it provides helpful answers to those attempting to reconcile the universal and particular aspects of God's love and redemption."
