Hey everyone! I'm working on finishing the final batch of pages for Issue 2 of Spotting Basil (yay!) After they're done I'm going back to do the Laguna bonus pages. That's 6 pages. Stick around! They're pretty neat! Maybe you'll like Laguna slightly by the end of it.

After I finish the Laguna pages I want to keep my Patreon open for an additional month to work on Doggone full time. Doggone, for those of you who are Bronze tier and don't know yet, is a werewolf comic I'm doing alongside Basil. To me it is spiritually a companion piece to Basil and discusses subjects related to the themes present in Basil -- but not fully fleshed out. It's very much artistically in line with what I'm usually doing with SB. I encourage you to stay and see it through.

After finishing Doggone I'm going on hiatus to give myself a well deserved vacation. I've really been pushing myself to the limits as far as filling my schedule goes and battling some mental demons too. When going on hiatus I WILL NOT BE CHARGING ANYONE who sticks around (yes, this includes those who subscribed for a year -- you will be getting extra months to make up for it.) When I start issue 3 all remaining people will get the first few pages completely free.

One thing to consider though; when doing Basil 3 I will be slashing my schedule in half. Issue 3 will have more panels per page (my limit has always been 6 -- I'm upping it to 9 so each page will on average have more content.) However, as of right now, I don't make enough money to justify issue 3 being more than 1 page weekly releases.

Another big change going forward is that during issue 3 I will be doing side comics more and create pinups much less frequently. To me pinups are kinda tedious and not as creatively fulfilling I'm discovering. So while I do issue 3 of Basil, don't expect me to keep up with pinups that much. Maybe expect 2 pages of a bonus comic per month or 1 pinup. The trade off is that these will be exclusive to silver tier for 2 months before release.

The theme of issue 3's production cycle is preventing myself from mentally spiraling. I want to be able to relax and enjoy my time working on Basil. I'm killing myself and working so much harder than is warranted. To put it in perspective, I make 3 dollars an hour on Patreon for the work I put in...yeah...it's that bad. Maybe I can return to the kind to work schedule I'm doing right now if I ever meet my goal of 2000 a month (I can pay rent with that.) But going forward...I have to cut myself some slack. I have to give myself mental reprieve.

If this changes your decision on what tier to sub to going forward, I understand.

Thanks for reading my comic and supporting me all the way through. It's been a dream come true bringing this to you. I expect issue 3 will be anywhere between 100-200 pages long. That's yet to be seen.

Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

Thanks!

Good to hear you're taking care of yourself. It's distressing that really talented visual artist/story tellers are so often not able to make a living with their art but that's were we are today.
