Back to the list! As before, we continue the trend of classic Actualol recommendations mixed with unexpected hidden passions never previously discussed on the channel.

A small fact about the list is that I didn't consider any games released in 2019, as I figured my feelings about new games are still in the early, idyllic stages of our romance, and it wouldn't be fair to judge them until our relationship has reached the serious, unrelenting UV light of cohabitation.

Actually yours,

Jon

Hi Jon! In your presentations of favorite board games, in the future, can you seque to the look of the game's boards, cards, and pieces? Or, at least segue to show the back of the game box, which typically shows the boards, cards, and pieces, etc. When I was watching this particular video, I couldn't get interested in some of your recommendations without seeing 'inside the box' (so to speak). So I wasn't certain how appealing the game would be. You did do a seque inside look with The Mind, and another game in this particular video. But for example, Robinsin Carusoe, it wasn't done. Re-watch the video and notice the difference between your presentation of The Mind vs Robinson Carusoe. Your Patreon Supporter, -Noel,

Hi Noel, thanks for your feedback. I would love to be able to include footage of each game in these Top 50 videos, but it would have been a huge task that would have stopped me from making other videos. I agree that the videos are better that way, but the amount of work to film footage for approx. 25 games would be immense. So I made a choice to only use the footage of games that I have from previous videos. Other channels use photos taken from BGG to illustrate their points, but this is usually in breach of the photographer's copyright and I won't do that. Every time I make a video I have to weigh up the time costs of what I'm doing. If I had made the Top 50 videos the way I (and you) would prefer, that would have meant I wouldn't have been able to make my Top 10 Christmas Gifts video, or my upcoming best of the month video, or written the newsletter. At the same time, I have to consider the impact on the success of the channel that releasing less content will have (other viewers prefer more regular content), and consider that it will push back other projects I wish to work on, such as new comedy content which is a priority for many viewers. I take none of these decisions lightly, and I am disappointed to have to release Top 50 videos that are below my preferred standard. But I've tried to learn that "perfect is the enemy of good", and many times in the past I have simply not made videos because of my perfectionism. I believe it is better to release them as they are, and hope that in the future, once the channel has grown, and I could afford to hire staff, then the videos will be at that level. As it is, I keep a high standard for almost all my content, but 50 games is just too much. I hope you understand, Jon
