I am SOOOO glad you reacted to this. This is one of the most iconic performances of Boy With Love, and unfortunately it doesn't get shown the love it deserves. Most reactors I think don't give a damn enough to go back and watch the same song but other performances. But then, you guys have always seemed to appreciate the fact that rarely are two BTS performances the same. So screw anyone who doesn't want you reacting to other performances cause if you're ARMY you watch them all, no excuses lol. I want to add onto the information Curt pulled up - So the Ed Sullivan show was filmed in the same theater as Steven Colbert's show. Steven thought doing something like this would be a good way to introduce his audience- who is mostly older people most who remember the beetles, to BTS who at the time were already breaking records the beetles had set. And they had just became the second group, other than the beetles to have 3 number 1 albums within one year. No other group has done that even to this day. When BTS popped up in 2017 for billboard interviews and other publications, they were often told they were 'like the beatles'. BTS back then dismissed that comment. They said they didn't want to be considered the beatles of this generation, they wanted to be the BTS of this generation. All 7 love the beatles and are fans of the group that they recognize as legends. BTS always remains humble. During this special performance Steven asked them if there was a beatles song that they love- Of course our Hobi jumped right up and broke out into 'Hey Jude' which led to all of BTS and the audience singing the song together for a bit. Honestly, the interview is worth a watch. AND, Steven later had Paul McCartney on and showed him the clip of BTS singing 'Hey Jude' on the show. He then asked Paul what he thought it was about the Beatles' music that it could transcend language barriers and cross the world to reach those 7 guys from Korea. Paul joked that it was because of 'easy lyrics'. But he went on to say this about his feelings towards BTS- "For me, it's not really because of the music like it is for the fans, but for me, it's about just seeing some young kids go through what we went through. BTS- Korean guys. I like watching them and seeing what's going on, I think they're good. I couldn't sing one of their songs, but I like them." The respect was there, and it was just so cool to hear Paul's thoughts and I admit. I didn't understand the significance till a few minutes into the show when my sister laughed at me and called our mom. Who thankfully was still awake. We watched the rest of it with her on video call and she loved it. She also explained the whole significance of this being the same stage the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan show which as I said- is the same studio/theater where the late show is filmed. I rambled on lots but thank you guys for reacting to this.💜💜💜
