2022-12-29 04:19:56 Thank you for reacting. What I've seen is that people get scared of getting into NCT because of how big the group is. It's confusing for them to understand & think it's too much to learn. If we talking units for 127 when they hear the title tracks as we know it's a hit or miss at first listen. First listeners might hear a song they think is too experimental & call it noise music, "pots & pans" has been described for 127 & the saddest thing is when they even say NCT can't sing & that it's autotuned. Unfortunately because of that after the title tracks, they don't go into their b-sides & see how wrong they're about them. WayV I think their promotion sucks if you think SM doesn't promote 127 properly for WayV it's worse. The Chinese political restrictions don't help either. There's also been a few postponements & waiting for comebacks issues... Dream & U is more family-friendly so that is why they tend to be the most popular units, especially in Korea. For Dream like you said it can be cute. For fans like me who have been NCT fans forever, we saw them grow up. Everything changed from their voices coming in, to their music & concepts changing as they grew up & mature. It's fascinating to see one of your artists grow throughout the years. I recently found out Dream songs are often played in Korean coffees & that's a big thing over there because it means that it's public friendly & it crosses the barrier from a K-pop group to an artist for them. K-pop, in general, is bigger internationally than in Korea until just recently Korean started liking it too so that's why it's a big deal over there. U is their's something for everyone type of unit. Besides the fact that the members change every song, the concept is very different every time because the members bring a different flavor to the song they're a part of. It's also fun for fans to see their favorite members from each unit together. Theirs just soo many equations some fans want the surprise element so when random members are put together you don't know what it will sound like or when they put THE main vocalist & THE main rappers of each unit together you know that ballad or Cypher is going to be your song. These are just some of the things I hear around. Not all fans think like this but hope this helps answer your question as to why NCT isn't as big as we want it to be or why certain units are more popular than others.
