Actually, Taemin is only 2 yrs older than Jimin in real life and they are in a friend group called Padding Squad with Wanna One and Hotshot’s Sungwoon, Shinee’s Taemin, Kai, Jimin, Vixx’s Ravi and Hotshot’s Timoteo.

I think you guys probably already know Jimin and Taemin are friends. So I think this is why the show happened. Outside of bts only a handful of artist I really like and Taemin is one of them. I hope there are more collabs with Jimin and Taemin in the future. I think any future collabs that will happen bts will be bts with hybe artist.

I have seen this video before, I don't know who Taemin is or anything about him, but based on these performances I prefer Jimin's dancing. Lie choreo is great, the other artist's solo performance was underwhelming for me and their collab performance at the end didn't wow me.....so I agree with Lo.

This was more a collaboration for sure, and definitely Jimin is the best dancer in SK and if you listen to others idols they always mentioned Jimin, Taemin or Kai as they role models in terms of dance so 🤷‍♀️

Taemin was straight chillin’. Lol. The idol of idols! Only he can pull off such slow and subtle movements yet give it so much power, like his iconic Move dance. Definitely not his flashiest performance, but it was just for fun with his bestie. Kai needs to be on the next one!! Saw a video with Ian Eastwood, famous choreographer, who has worked with Taemin and said that he is one of the few that can pop and lock with proper technique. Taemin a beast!

Vocal challenge would be dope!! I’d love to see Taeil and Doyoung go up against other artists!! They have amazing solo covers! I believe Doyoung and Jungkook both covered Harry Styles’ Falling! Taemin vs Ten Dance Battle would be dope!!! Ten has been in China judging a dance crew show and performed an unreleased solo track called Birthday!! So good!

Exactly. Taemin is considered the best dancer for a reason. This was not meant to be a “who is a better dancer” performance. This was just a fun little collab because they are friends

Knowing Taemin’s close friendship with Jimin as well as his status as a veteran in the Kpop industry it was very obvious to me that this wasn’t a battle. Showdown is really disingenuous title to call this fun collab between friends but since it was for an end of the year music festival broadcast it makes sense that the network would want to capitalize on the fandom discussion about who is better and whatnot. I think if he were taking this seriously Taemin would not have gone with a very short unreleased song with choreo that he definitely made up a couple days before lol but it would not have been a good move for him to whip out something more impactful like SayoHito or Flame of Love on a 5 minute KBS broadcast.

Yeah.... the thing about 'Showdowns' and 'VS.' in SK is that they're rarely like.. real competitions, when on these kind of shows. This was KBS's year end show/festival in 2016 and it was more of a collab stage between friends. As others have said, these two are part of a close friend group made of other idols. They have vacationed together and done other activities together when they had time to do so. This wasn't a serious thing. Jimin and Taemin have similar dance styles the difference is Taemin does have more years of experience under his belt... now that doesn't mean he is better than Jimin, actually the two are pretty equal and both are considered the Dance Kings of Kpop. Things like this are really just kind of like a showcase- 'Here's these two amazing dancers/performers, you decide who you like more.' Same with the Block B vs. BTS 'VS' stage. Now.. I will say that there are some shows in the past... and even now who will put groups or idols against each other and they are supposed to seriously compete with one another. Hell back in the 2000's male and female groups would have stages together, they don't do it like they used to because toxic fans made it miserable for the idols and companies didn't want to take risk of losing support. I would love to see more actual vs's of idols. Also more collabs... lol G-Dragon is the most influential but he has been losing some steam as he's not been as active. His focus is other things though, fashion being his main focus it seems. He's still a King of K-pop though and super influential and Lo is right, if he's up against anyone- Skill won't matter, it will be about popularity... but that can be said for some other Idols as well- which might be why they don't do it seriously anymore. In fact the only person I think G-Dragon would/could lose to would be Seo Taiji. However, it would still be fun to see some Idols go head to head in vocal, rap, and dance. I don't think there's anyone in particular I'd like to see go head to head... Maybe just one, but it's a vs that would leave some people butt hurt.. SinB vs Lisa from BP... And I'm going to get hate for saying it, cause I always do... but to me, in my honest opinion- SinB is a better dancer. I think Taemin and Jimin respectfully are extremely talented dancers so I’d say they’re one of the best in SK so I’m glad they’re held at such a high regard for sure as well as many 4th gen dancers (specially the AOTM that were chosen)

Their collaboration was fantastic like a precious gift 🥰 The beautiful friendship between the two was very nice to see. Look at Jimin and Taemin smiling at each other when they dance together. How beautiful. And the fact that these two great dancers perform on the same stage is like a gift.

There are so many great dancers in kpop and unfortunately some are not so famous so they don’t get the recognition they deserve so I would just say amongst the popular ones I know I would say Jhope. He’s very technical and I’ve seen so many professional dancers be impressed with his dance skills I mean even BTS themselves says he’s the best dancer in their group. For me though I prefer Jimin’s dance style. He is very dynamic when he’s dancing and he has a way of making you feel the emotion of the song. Just like his voice his dancing is unique and only he can do it. Put him in a group of dancers and your eyes will just go to him immediately same as when he’s singing your ears will know when he’s singing.

Jimin fainted after this performance. There is a video showing how he fell. https://youtu.be/T7HDkQBczl4 Someone says that he decided to joke like that, I don't know if it's true or not. But there have already been cases when he fainted. In one interview, he said that he fainted at one of the rehearsals due to the fact that he didn't eat enough and his body was exhausted.

This was after the Diet actually, this showcase is an end of the year show. Jimin did 10 days of only eating 1 meal which was a horrible diet, he returned to his normal eating after day 8 or 9 because he collapsed during a dance practice. Staff and members made him stop because of it. Some fans ran with it though and tried to claim he had an actual eating disorder, which isn't true. He did get overzealous on a few other diets he tried too, back in 2014, and 2015, but again, they were limited time diets. He's since learned a much better way to maintain himself healthily. The reason many were saying it was a joke was because of how Jimin was, and how he was more than fine when he did an interview soon after this stage, not to mention he was seen getting right up and cracking up with Taemin- In that video you can see no concern on Taemin's face, if Jimin had really become light headed and fainted for real... Taemin who was right there, would not have reacted with a huge smile and be giggling like that. Jimin was also laughing with him seconds before he 'collapsed'. You don't just faint for a few seconds and then pop up like nothings happened. But then people ask well why did he 'joke' like that. Jimin isn't the first Idol to laugh and joke and fake fall to the ground.. hell Yoongi does it, Hobi's done it, Yes he was most likely a bit tired from the choreo he had pulled off, but he wasn't seriously fainting. The staff that was right there would have checked on him too but clearly they knew what was going on. All these things go into why many believe he didn't seriously faint. The video linked goes slow-motion and doesn't actually show the whole clip. There are other fan-cams around I'm sure though, that will show how Jimin got up after and you can find the interview as well.
