Ok. I'll ask for a Redemption 46 BTS cover? Anyone? Anyone?

RM 100% addressed the bs for ARMYs sake, and as Lo said alot of the death threats and extreme comments weren't even from ARMYs, other fandoms cosplay as army accounts whenever something negative is happening to make us look bad. Like real ARMY gave him the side eye but we don't support those kinds of behaviors. I'm not completely absolving ARMY of accountability tho cause we take things too seriously and are a little overprotective of the guys sometimes because we're not used to how fake LA culture is, as alot of the hosts the boys get interviewed by in Korea do genuine research and are even friends with the boys.  BTS also paged James before on being fake, when BE came out, Jimin asked him to name any other song that wasn't Dynamite and he couldn't. BTS addresses alot of slander that ARMY receives, especially RM. For example when he paged Billboard for them saying ARMY mass streams is the only reason the boys chart, when really it was xenophobia and trying to punish the boys for having a loyal fanbase. Anyways I'm still glad they addressed it just to clear the air.

Summer

yup!! I never saw any death threats but most of the time the death threats and extreme comments don't even come from army and are from trolls, and other fandoms that pretend to be army they always do this to make us look bad and set us up.

Haha Lo singing is pretty much all of us when butter comes on. 👍🏾👌🏾👏🏾

I really enjoyed your conversation. I am a little older than you guys and I do feel that the culture today has difficulty handling challenges and/or constructive criticism. I think the problems some ARMY may have had with James Corden is the fact that he knows BTS and the wide diversity in the fan base, that he could have joked about something else or commended BTS on their accomplishment of being ambassadors to the president and speaking at the UN for a second time. Any ARMY can correct me if I'm wrong. And I do believe people should be given second chances. Even BTS has faced criticism from past mistakes which they learned from and grew as people and artists.

RDM46

I understand from your prospective Kem. Hopefully moving forward James and other people know to relax on some of the jokes and hopefully the trolls relax too

I've only been ARMY since just before DYNAMITE, but BTS doesn't appear to ever tell fans to chill. But it does seem coincidental that when ARMY seems to be acting up, they post pictures to distract us.

Anonymous

I think you guys confused Jimmy Kimmel with Jimmy Fallon lol. I personally prefer Jimmy Fallon and BTS interactions. I think he's very respectful and sweet and gave them a chance when they were just getting big in the U.S. however he's located in New York :( and the boys spend the most time in L.A.

Anonymous

Ahhh I think BTS had the biggest fanbase growth with 'Boy With Love' and 'Dynamite' I'm a dynamite army and so are most of my friends

I think when it comes to fandoms and Stan’s on social media it’s so nuanced. And if you are on the outside it’s hard to have these discussions in my opinion. Like what Lo was saying, people will do anything to make ARMY look bad. Even some ARMY because they like the attention and clout. It’s a general consensus in ARMY that we do not do death threats but people will because they can hide behind an account that doesn’t connect them to anything in real life. Also understand media, and anyone ARMY tries to have a discussion with about genuine concerns will bring up death threats to ignore the issue that ARMY has just so they can play victim. Usually it’s very little threats or none at all. There’s so many moving parts to ARMY fandom. I’m glad I follow sensible accounts on Twitter. Makes the experience so much better. Wish y’all had an ARMY at the table with y’all. 😅

Honest question: Is there any joke about BTS that ARMY has NOT had issues with? I cannot think of a single one, at the top of my head. Personally, I give comedians a lot of slack, I'm a big fan of comedy central style roasts which do make fun a lot and most jokes can be considered offensive in some way. I go after comedians if they say racist/xenophobic things (like that German radio host who is no longer on the air)... However, a joke making fun of how passionate ARMY's younger fanbase can be? Doesn't bother me.

April Forgue

I have been ARMY for a few years now and I am 52. I do find James joke off putting because as ARMY we fight so hard to break the stereotypes that people think of ARMY as all teenage fan girls which is so far from the truth. I don't think most of the hate comments were from ARMY. Just posers. I think who is BTS ARMY would be a great reaction to do by xceleste.

Yasmine SB

Sorry but it's silly to say that BTS should feel responsible for some toxic fans acts, it's like saying that a community should be responsible for some criminals acts... it reminds me of some fascists claiming that all Muslims should be held responsible for terrorists acts and act accordingly with statements and demonstrations. When James Corden made his lame jokes, several ARMYs went through every comment under the video in question, there was absolutely no death threat and the majority tried to explain the problem with his jokes which were not only about the age of the fans but also mocking BTS's intervention at the United Nations, and everything was done respectfully, some were gross but really nothing serious. And let me tell you that every time someone complains about threats from the ARMYs, we ask for proof or screenshots and in 90% of the cases there is none, or else we find out that it's trolls or antis trying to smear the image of the ARMYs... Recently a journalist wrote an article belittling BTS, several ARMYs wrote essays tracing the problem with her article, she later claimed to have received threats by DMs and that she didn't want to show the screenshots, we asked for them and nada, and we later found out that she was a multi-fan who had criticized BTS several times online for singing in English but had said absolutely the opposite about her other favs when they have way more english tracks, and the worst thing is that she's asian-american ... Are we supposed to take the word of someone who has not shown good faith without proof???

The issue is, that when journalists and others says something unprofessional, or like in this case a joke, that some people didn't find it funny, they always focus on 1% trolls, but not on 99% constructive criticism given by ARMY. I don't find 14 hear olds girls joke funny. One because it's always used to drag ARMY. Second, it always was and still is used as discredit females interest, while boys are praised. Like look how people treat female fans of BTS or other artist and how people treat guys and theirs sports. Females emotions are mocked, while guys crying and screaming are OK. And I don't think that BTS ever address it publicly, nor they should because they know, how real ARMY is like. We have theirs back and they have ours. Acknowledging trolls only encourage them. That resent incident with Tae on weverse proves. If there is some issue, they will take care of it behind the scenes. And I think, Namjoon cleaning air is saying let's move on ARMY, but also showing they're having our backs too. Namjoon said 'We APPRECIATED your apology.', not accept, while James was just scrambling. When you make a joke about stereotype, you need to make sure they will laugh too.

Anonymous

BTS fans have literally partnered with James to help fund his charities. If ANYONE in the media should understand our diversity, it should have been him. So, his "joke" was in poor taste...especially given the context. And that's why a lot of ARMY was upset. If you're not ARMY...then you probably don't know enough to speak on it. That being said, death threats are never ok and I did see some of those. I also saw ARMY calling those people out...and that is what should happen. It's not BTSs responsibility to policemillions of people, especialy when 9 out of 10 times the agitators aren't even ARMY. There are entire group chats and accounts set up by Blinks with the ONLY purpose of pretending to be ARMY. And yes I called them by name because they brag about it on Twitter. Anyways, I'm going to leave this topic alone because the targeting of BTS and ARMY makes me extremely upset and it needs to stop.

Anonymous

At the end of the day, BTS likes and respects James Corden. So for me, as ARMY, I support their goals and don't interfere with their professional relationships. As for James, I feel the same about him as I did before...fairly neutral. Moving on.

Anonymous

I don't enjoy comedians jokes. Especially late-night cimediabs...but that's me. Crazy how we can all feel differently, huh? As for this joke from this comedian....if you don't know the ARMY background with him, then you wouldn't understand why some were offended.

April Forgue

Jerric is never around when you do all the best BTS songs. He has missed so many bangers.

ARMYnotArmy

Oh boy.... Well, since we're going there- I'm going to start off by saying something to those who think James didn't get death threats from people -He did, on twitter. He not only got death threats, but he also got told some really gross things about a friend of his who had recently passed. I'm sure it's all buried by now and I'm sure there were plenty in his DMs as well. The comment saying this happens and we ask for proof but no one provides any- All it takes is getting around to the twitter comments before those cowards claiming to be ARMYs delete them before they get reported to HYBE or Twitter. The reason why you might not see them is because ARMYs are ALWAYS reporting those kind of posts instead of responding. We've been doing this for years- it's a method we try to spread to others- DO NOT engage in those kinds of comments, just report them. Now- Do I think those were ARMYs? Hell no. First off, he never said all ARMYs are 15 year old girls- I don't think his jokes were funny but I also don't think he had anything to apologize for. His words were- "It's the first time 15 year old girls wished they were [insert the name of the politician here]" That's what he said.. I just can't remember the dude's name. And he might not be wrong because that dude was at the UN and got to be in the same room with BTS, so making that joke.... could have been funny to some. I personally didn't find it funny but I got the point of it. Those 'fans' who got upset and mad over James saying BTS was an unusual guest.... I swear those are the people who just want to be mad at something. BTS being at the UN is not Usual... Usual, means it's expected, it's common... I swear, I need to buy a ton of webster dictionaries and ship them to people over the internet. I don't want to be that Bitch, but none of those 'fans' who got mad don't know what it was like in the beginning.... hell look at what has happened even a year ago. There are actual things to get mad about and to voice our anger for. However, this... this was not one of them. Here's my whole opinion on things like this- As someone who's seen ARMYs grow in size I have not failed to see that pretty much from 2017 to now a pattern has become more clear in some people. When these new fans watch these videos that touch on BTS hardships, when they dive into the Rabbit hole that is BTS they grow fond of them, there's an emotional attachment there. It's not bad, but sometimes they take what they learn about how BTS was treated, all their personal and professional hardships that do get talked about (Trust me, we don't talk about all of them for reasons.) and they take it all to heart. They feel guilty or bad for not being there for BTS when they were struggling. They didn't know them so they couldn't send them things or send them messages of encouragement. Those feelings cause these people to feel like from the day they become ARMY and forward, they MUST do all they can to 'protect' BTS. they must defend them because no one else can or will- Only those people are wrong. They don't see how they can do more harm than good. BTS and BigHit.. now HYBE, are not incapable anymore. HYBE has a whole ass team of Lawyers who are working hard WITH ARMY to sue the pants off of these people who are trying to harm BTS, who try to defame them or make threats against them. It's now ARMYs time to report any of these wrong doings we see, not to engage and start acting like the immature children some people think ARMYs are. And I get it... I've acted out before. Sometimes it's hard to not say something to someone who's being disgusting or trying to spread hurtful rumors. But as I've gotten older I've found thanks to BTS I can step back, I can take a look at the situation and think rationally before sinking to that harmful level. I know it can be difficult to do, but I do hope more and more ARMYs and fans can let it go. I hate feeling like some people become overbearing because they feel guilty about not being there from the get go. Look, trust that those of us who were around- we did all we could okay. This doesn't make us any more special than any other ARMY though, this doesn't mean we are better. Sure, I experienced more. But I'm not any more special or better than someone who became an ARMY 2 seconds ago. To me, hell... forget to me.. to BTS there is no difference. ARMY is ARMY and they don't care when each of us took up that name. As for BTS speaking out against fans- they have in their own ways. But they also know what goes on and know when it's ARMY and when it's not ARMY. But because some actual ARMYs jumped on the hate wagon that rolled through on James- I think they might have wanted to bring it up for the interview. Another thing- I saw some ARMYs and fans acting like Namjoon roasted James- These shows are not on the fly, everything is planned out. So, BTS and James were well aware of the talk they were going to have and I think they might have had a shorter interview because they wanted to touch on that. And now.. I'm going to shut up, and I might get some hate for saying what I said, but I honestly don't care. I meant what I said and if those people can't let it go- want to hate on someone so badly... then fine, aim your hate at me. I can handle it. Thanks for the reaction. I'll continue watching all this great content. I keep saying thank you but... THANK YOU! 💜💜💜

Hello, i know Christmas is over but i would apperciate it if you reacted to Stray Kids Christmas Evel and the opening for 2021 sbsgayo2021 all i want for Christmas!!!

I agree with 90% of what you said but you shouldn't dismiss the ARMY who were upset because you weren't upset. I heard his joke but it didn't bother me. But as someone who helped organize ARMY donations to his charities from ADULT ARMY, I can see why some people were upset that it was coming from James. And whether you agree or not, their feelings were valid and I'm not going to get on patron in mixed company and act like they weren't. Also I saw death threats in the comments as well, several times and yes, as ARMY our method for handling them is to report them. However, I think we're at the point where we have to report them AND make it clear on Twitter that we don't support the statements, staying silent just gives antis more space and confidence to cosplay. Also. It doesn't help to say, "didn't see those"...tbecause they were there. As you mentioned, a significant portion wasn't ARMY, because we do have cosplayers....a LOT of them, but the person receiving them don't know that. And that type of response is never acceptable. So, it's our responsibility to at least try and let it be known that we don't support that as ARMY.

Ok, so about James Corden, I still think he didn't deserve this. His joke wasn't funny to me bc yes, it can reinforce the teen-girl stereotype about ARMY but to cancel him is actually building even more the image of the fandom being toxic, which could impact BTS in a negative way. I’m embarrassed for our boys when the toxic side of the fandom is shown. In the end, the boys and Hybe know how to handle this. Also, there were way other american interviews where I felt the comments were more disrespectful and ignorant. I respect BTS for keeping a good relationship with James (whether it's business or friendship) but this is just my opinion. To me, he remains one of the first nice american talk-show hosts to welcome BTS in the West, along with Jimmy Fallon so I'm always thankful for that. Though I'm not saying the dead threats were coming from ARMY, as people explained already. And the fandom is so big to this day that it looks like most of them are toxic when it's only a small loud part compared to the actual respectful and positive fans. I wish we would focus more on the positive side of ARMY. Which is why, on the other hand, that interview quite annoyed me. For James to justify himself for 5 minute long wasn't necessary to me. And I don't think it was BTS' responsability to react to that, as you guys said. I get that James wanted to officially clear the air (I'm sure they already talked about it off camera) but that was so embarrassing to me. You can see that RM wanted to move on to the questions. Even during the rest of the interview, James was acting and trying way too much to please the members and it's just awkward. I hate watching this interview. I wish he would have focused more on them, on real questions than on this shit. Again, the more we talk about it, the more people generalize ARMY as a toxic fandom. This is why I agree with Curt, yes the questions weren't interesting. Although most of the talk-shows interviews are supposed to be short, light and entertaining. There aren't so much good deep interviews of BTS done in the US that I can mention actually. Jerrick, please always stay honest. As you said, I don't think you owe us any apology but I was just glad that you changed your mind on BTS. I agree that we need to educate people in a respectful way and I love that Jerrick stayed to react and learn as everyone should do :)

Yasmine SB

Dot.... Thank you for saying the facts.. All you said is true and it upset me too especially when those who don't know us enough believe all these lies.

RDM46

I can respect that and I agree. If anything James should know better

RDM46

I think all fans should be treated equally and fairly. I agree we should ignore negatively but it’s probably more trolls out there than 1% lol.. Death threats aren’t cool at all… BTS wouldn’t want that on anyone… Most stereotypical jokes are never funny to the stereotype but I understand what you mean. James should just know better honestly 💜

Frances

I thought your discussion was really interesting. I also wanted to say I enjoy listening to Jerrick’s perspective when he joins the discussions. I don’t always agree with him but I appreciate his honesty and his point of view.

ARMYnotArmy

I second the Jerrick thing. And I agree with you on the James and BTS things. It wasn't deserved, and BTS shouldn't have to scold those who make the conscious choice to be vindictive and malicious. 💜💜

it's not silly. any of artist would call out fans for being racist, sexist, etc. The issue is BTS low-key has low-key presented themselves as people who don't tolerate any of that bigotry when a good 70% of their fans are nasty. We forgetting how y'all acted during Yoongi Jim Jones situation? Let's not act like BTS are complacent when it comes to how nasty their fans are.

Fatima

I always enjoy your discussions, thank you! Can you please react to some BTS concert videos? Like their Dionysus live performance?

Anonymous

I don't share your pov about the issue between James and Army...the other comments just express my exact toughts but I respect it guys, if is true that the death treaths are not ok AT ALL is also true that this "joke" James made was so uncall for...so unnecessary, the thing is that BTS and Army are been dealing with a lot of shit since always and is not the first time a "journalist" or "talkshow host" said those things about the fandom or even worst...about BTS....I guess if weren't something common between western media it won't be a big deal but is a problem that is been going around for ages, most of the time the western media just see the 1% of inmature side of the fandom and ignore the other 99% who does good things, are mature and support the guys...I am a 40 years old Army and normally I am out of all this drama and problems so I don't feel offended but I understand the backlash he received due of all this....on the other hand even when James is not my favorite person and I personally feel his "friendship" with BTS is not exactly genuine I have to admit his show promote the guys a lot in US and his segments are very clever and funny...but that's all, thank you guys for your honest toughts and reaction.

Great reaction guys! 😊💜

It was great to see Jerrick. His honesty adds a different level of spice to the conversation. And sometimes he just be talking out the side of his neck, but it is comedy gold.to me.lol I love it most when y'all have the full crew in-house. The comraderie and chaos is the most! And Nick, when you do your fanboy giggle, it's like you're channelling me...

RDM46

YEAH JERRICK IS SO HONEST THAT IT BUGS SOME PPL LOL.. WE LOVE IT... AND I BE TOO HYPE LOL

Bts telling the toxic fans to chill on social media will allow antis and haters to use the fact that bts had to call out the toxicity side of army (which isn't what makes up army) against them. Bighit did address these fans a few times but I don't remember the reason and bighit/hybe addressed them as "bts fans" not "army" in those notice letters. Which gives a more clear difference between the 2 sides of the fandom
