Keith was on the nose with Hobi's style of rapping, when you get into his solos like Daydream (my favourite) and Airplane pt. 1 there are singing melodies within the song RM always does a review and behind the scenes whenever they drop an album, you can find these on vlive, he explains how they chose the songs, which melodies and lyrics as well and how the members choose their parts for the songs Y'all knowing Ranch Randa also being RM was impressive ngl. The boys did interviews for GQ and Vogue that dropped recently and if you're interested here's something that an ARMY put together. You'll find not only pictures from the magazines but their interviews as well, they spoke on their lives, how they approach their careers now https://twitter.com/btsbaragi_jk/status/1473100926168801280?t=npy6RzeN_Eo8_J0LPfa7ow&s=08

FIRE 🔥🔥🔥

Like the contrast between RM (the mixtape) and mono clearly shows that RM is not mad at anyone anymore and he's more like the introspective kind. I think y'all need to react to The Last by Agust D and the rappers mixtape as well (when y'all have time of course). Thank you for reacting again

Anonymous

I love the reaction ❤️👍🏽 Everyone did they’re thing on this track I loved RM part the best, RM was really going through it around this time hence to some of the stuff he was saying. And I think all three of the rappers can be very passionate when they want, it just depends on the song. Like RM has some songs where he’s rapping crazy passionate, then SUGA of course, and Jhope especially in some rapline songs. And they have songs like the cypher were they are rapping heavily like Outro Tear, DDAENG etc and those are pretty recent they came out in 2018 so I would definitely love for y’all to check those out.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Appreciate y’aall 💜

Namjoon's underground stage name was runch randa, and yoongi's was gloss

RDM46

You could tell RM was going through it… this was a dope track

Nice!!!!

Are we getting more??🤭🤭

Gladeez

Yessuhhhhh 🔥🔥🔥 are we getting more BTS today ?

Actually, Cypher 2 is more about BFREE....through the Cyphers, you really see the rapline's growth

Anonymous

I agree that RM is more on the technical-lyrical side, and is more introspective now. You can hear that his latest solo drops are more chill. They grew up. And Suga is someway becoming more mature in his songs too, less agressive. He said in his latest interview that he doesn't know who to be angry with anymore (the Vogue Korea one that just dropped). Daechwita remains to be one of those songs he releases here and there to trap and fool the haters who still fall into it. Thank you! Can't wait for you guys to react to the other cyphers, the cypher medley live and more of the rapline songs

Lala woods

I know this is so random but I know u guys listened to UGH! But hopefully u guys could watch the explained by a Korean DKDKTV. Obviously the song wasn’t as aggressive as the cyphers but they were still saying some shit and u guys might relate to the meaning

Anonymous

Those are great interviews, not to mention the gorgeous photoshoots. Kenya, what did you think about it? Just curious about your opinion on their thoughts on their careers in the future

laura

yes UGH and DDAENG both have technical and amazing lyrics! i hope they react to the explanation for both

Lala woods

Wow I never seen Kurt triggered before 😅 but question to ARMYs did Bfree release any diss track for the rap line after they released the cyphers?

Madison

Can you guys check out BTS Christmas Carol Medley if you have the chance too, I know its the holidays so its probably hard. But if you do check it out, it would have to go on Dailymotion because KBS blocks things

Anonymous

Looking forward to you guys reacting to the rest of the cyphers! Don't forget to check out Ddaeng and the explanation video together. Love you guys!💜

Erica Phifer

Love it! I can't wait for y'all to get into hobi mixtape and cypher pt 2. Daydream is a must for sure! :)

Anonymous

Rm and hobi probably will release new mixtapes i'm very curious about namjoon because his second mixtape ( that i love) was completley different from his first one, hope 1 day you can react to it because it showed a calmer and sadder side of him thst i relate so much, a lot of fan cb to that mixtape for co fort. Is great. Anyways as of now idt none of them will be back to that angry rap, i misse their cheeky sode but they were younger and angrier...now they have change so much! How i wish they would show more of thst side of them but since they are so famous now i guess they keep it cool but when i hear their old stuff i always think how easy could be for them being " the ones you don't mess with" if they wanted.

Really great reaction!! I loved it!! Cypher pt1 is the cypher I think a lot of army’s forget abt it, it’s not really that talked abt like the other cyphers so I’m glad to see u guys reaction to it. I think u guys should definitely check out some songs from the rapline mixtapes, y’all would really get to see their individual styles more. For RM, I suggest his first mixtape RM1 which was released back in 2015. I think this is a overlooked mixtape by the fandom but it has some amazing songs, it’s such a good balance between hard hitting songs and soft mellowed down songs. I suggest reacting to Monster, Life, Throw Away, and Awakening For Suga I suggest Agust D, his mixtape he released back in 2016. I perfer Agust D over D-2 lol. For the songs I Suggest Tony Montana and 724148. For JHope you guys should definitely check out Hope World and preferably HANGSANG, Airplane, and Base Line. I think RM is the most versatile out of the rap line, and I say this because Keith touched on something that’s I’ve been saying for a long time, and it was when he said RM goes with the flow so if he’s pissed he’s gonna give us some hard hitting aggressive type shit, if he’s chilling and living his best then he’s gonna give us something chill. It really depends with him, and I really love that abt him. RM has changed a lot, like I mean a lot and with that change I think a lot of people have been underestimating him as a rapper mainly because he doesn’t go as hard as he used too back in old days. I think this is because he doesn’t need to prove himself to the haters anymore, he doesn’t need to hop on a track and dissed people because he’s in a happy place now. He struggled a lot during their earlier years especially with depression, self identity, anxiety, and even suicidal thoughts. He’s now at his best, aside from his past weverse post worrying me but I kinda feel we might get some future shit from him like this. They’re gonna be releasing their new album in 2022, so maybe we’ll get another rapline diss track, plus he’s also been working on his 3rd mixtape.

Love the cyphers! 2 is my fave just for the lyrics. And another great discussion! I think I definitely prefer the older rap style when I felt like you wrote more about real world problems and not soo much about random stuff .. I like feeling behind my lyrics though.. but maybe that is because I was a 88 baby soo I felt like I was raised up listening to Tupac, NWA, and early Nas .. plus our vocals were Prince, Whitney, and bands like nirvana and rage against the machine who all had stuff to say .. I guess I just miss those days .. we still have those few out there that have something to say but like you all stated it is not put out front for anyone to hear and you got to look for it.. anyways rant over. Lol .. and soo sorry for the horrible grammar! I am doing this all from the car. Oh , and as someone mentioned above you definitely gotta check out Agust D the Last !

jessi reaction she is from new york went to korea when she was 14 on her own to pursue music. she's been in the kpop industry for 15 or 16 years now. one of the most loved but hated artist because she keeps it 100 even if you dont want to hear it. she has a few hit song but recently is when her career took off after switching to psy's lable with hyuna and dawn. she was also the first artist he signed

Ohh and while we were talking about car songs.. I had one of my fave car songs going today.. Paul revere by beastie boys.. I don’t know why that always gets me.

ARMYnotArmy

Fair warning- This is probably going to be one of my longest comments so far. Firstly- I want to note that Cypher 1 was not aimed at B-Free, that would be Cypher 2 and a bit of 3 as well. Okay. now onto the main stuff- RM and Suga's parts for this were done in 2011 originally, with some of those lyrics being changed when they were getting ready to record this. The originals use to be on Youtube, on their channel but I think those were deleted, I've not looked back on them, they might be up still, I don't know. RM and Suga were primarily talking about the shit they got for leaving the underground, and the shit they got for choosing to become Idols. Suga originally signed on to BigHit as a producer, but after some persuading by Bang Si-Hyuk, Suga joined the rap group that was being formed- He moved into the one-bedroom dorm with RM and 7 other rappers at that time in November of 2010. The two argued a lot back in those days, as they've talked about in a few interviews and RM even wrote about it in BTS's song 'moving on' which is on their Young Forever album. Yoongi/Suga mentioned last year in an interview that he had heard of Raunch Randa which was one of the few names RM went by, another was Rida. Some who he had rap battles against would call him Rita(to mock him). Yoongi had heard that this 15 year old kid was making grown men afraid to rap against him. So naturally, when Yoongi found out he and RM had a similar background, and Namjoon was none other than Raunch Randa himself.... He said he had to admit his pride got the best of him and he wanted to do nothing more than challenge Namjoon. This caused a lot of their fights over absolutely nothing. In in the soop they mention some of these fights that happened when they moved dorms as well. They fought over a drawer, a bedroom. Pointless things. Jin and Jackson Wang of Got 7 have talked about Namjoon's skills as a rapper and human. Jackson stated that Namjoon isn't much of a talker, he's often silent, he observes. However, when he has something to say, he has this way of making people listen, and whatever he says, be it advice or whatever- it just feels right. Jin described Namjoon as someone you want to be on the good side of. He said he was thankful to be on a team with RM and not be against him, because Namjoon can be very scary and intimidating. Yoongi has a lot of respect for Namjoon though, after overcoming those differences, and Yoongi's pride, the two are actually very close- arguably the closest members in the group. They went through a lot of crap together. From being insulted for then becoming 'idol rappers'- This is viewed as an insult because K-pop companies usually had 'roles' those members of a group would take on the persona of. Rapper was a role and usually associated with the 'bad boy' persona. Most rappers in K-pop did not write their own lyrics, this is still the case, though there are more rappers now who do write for themselves every song they make. Back then though, it was not typical and there were very few who were known to actually write their own raps- even still they were not viewed as 'actual' rappers because a company gave them that position. To many of Namjoon and Yoongi's 'friends' said they were no longer rappers. So, in this Cypher they were aiming at those people who were looking down on them, people who were trying to erase the fact that both had been in the underground rap scene for years before joining a company. Pretty much like taking the experience the two had gained and just acting like they never had that experience to begin with. Yoongi left his whole rap crew to be a producer initially. Someone mentioned this, but Yoongi went by his name translated into English- Gloss He is the type of rapper to rap with passion and like I mentioned- He got a lot of flak for leaving his crew, even though they all knew he wanted to produce and write for others at first. J-hope on the other hand, was different. His rap was aimed at those who called him one of these company made 'idol rappers', the fact he wasn't experienced, that he never rapped till the company gave him that role- but in truth, Hobi was a street dancer first and foremost. Because of his musicality, learning to rap came pretty easily to him, plus he had RM, Suga, Supreme boi, and a few other rappers were still part of the original lineup which helped him learn. They used to rap battle each other or do cyphers around their old dorm. Even when they finally came together as the BTS we know, they were still doing cyphers for fun and for Hobi, he took it as learning more and sharpening his skills. Of course, this didn't stop the hate he got. The hate for being a dancer who left his crew to become an 'idol singer'. For a while so many hate filled people would tweet, or post on other sites that J-Hope wasn't a real rapper. Even K-rappers would say this. So really, all in all- This cypher was just toward those who doubted them, who didn't like the idea of them leaving the underground- Since RM and Suga had fans from that scene but pretty much none of them followed over. In these early years- yes, this trio was more aggressive with their raps. As people they have changed somewhat, evolved, grown, learned a lot more about themselves and the kind of people they want to be. That being said, I think if they wanted to, if it was something they were passionate or felt strongly about, I fully believe they could hit us with more aggressive raps like this. It's just a matter of if they feel like it. We might see more of this stuff on their mix tapes though over a BTS album. Honestly it was shock back then to find this on an album. We'd heard RM and Suga's parts mostly, but Hobi kind of surprised people with this one. Many ARMYs believe the point of the Cyphers being on albums was rapline's way of saying "We're not afraid to do what we've been doing, even before all this.". It was a call back to people who kept saying they're not rappers, they don't know how to rap anymore. Things like that. I personally tend to enjoy rap that has more substance. So it's easy to see why I love BTS's rapline so much. That's not to say I don't like to toss on some rap that's just fast beats or something. That kind of mindless music is perfect for a morning run. Hobi's 'Baseline' is simple lyrically, but it's a song I can jam out to and it's a hype song that makes you feel. I do think the mindless raps seem to get more attention in western radio and media, and it may be because right now people don't prioritize lyrics over beat, or how the song feels. Many just don't want to think about the music they're listening to. Like you guys said- people want the escape. I don't think it makes those people dumb, maybe some are too lazy to think, but I just think people in general- for now anyway, just want to feel over thinking. It's not a bad thing, or 'not right'. Hopefully someday we'll get more people who focus on lyrics so these radio stations and everywhere else will play more of that kind of rap. For now it will stay in those groups of people, people like most ARMYs who tend to like BTS's raps because it's more thought provoking. Also, I want to note that the 'top 5' line where RM lists his names... minus "your dad". Rapmon is mentioned and it is a name many called him as a shorter version of Rap monster, but he used it also to name his American Eskimo dog that he got just after debut- Rapmon, also called Moni/Rapmoni. Just a little useless fun fact I guess lol. I'll shut up for now. But thank you so much for the conversation, I really appreciate it. 💜💜💜

Lala woods

I hope they do. I was hoping atleast we get the run bts ep 13 part 2

Anonymous

Omg this was so well written!!! Very detailed and a lil background story of what the actually song is about. I also really appreciate you going into depth of each rapper and their rapping styles, and what they did before etc.

Anonymous

I like all three of them because they all have such different styles that complement each other so well. I am drawn to RM a lot because of his lyricism. If you want hard-hitting you have to listen to RM's first mixtape (titled RM). His second mixtape is called Mono and it's a whole nother vibe, I guess what some may call lofi hip hop. Now as far as rappers in the States, I'm old school from the late '70s and early '80s. I like Kool Moe Dee, LL Cool J, Eric B and Rakim, Heavy D and the Boys, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Sugarhill Gang, Run DMC, Public Enemy, A Tribe called Quest, KRS One, Slick Rick. I could go on and on.😂😁

jmo - cypher 1 goes to RM

ARMYnotArmy

Nope, but he did say sorry to "BTS fans" as he called us, then proceeded to take back that sorry, and then he said that he'd rather apologize to Bobby of IKON than apologize to BTS.... only to then apologize to BTS/ARMY for a second time. But ARMY were not having it. He then did a live stream where he was video calling fans, and trash talking BTS with those 'fans' of his... that's the last he talked about BTS.

RDM46

Definitely gonna be checking out all their respective works
