Yes, Other groups do have their own behind the scenes shows and some groups did have them in the past but BTS popularized idols having these variety type shows. BTS's behind the scenes videos are called Bangtan Bombs. Many groups had these even before BTS, but not many groups had the Variety/game show like RUN BTS. The reason for doing it was BigHit didn't want to deal with that 'middle man'. The networks, the hosts of these variety shows, the producers of these variety shows. There were very few that BTS would attend more than once. BTS only really liked ASC(After School Club), with Hosts Eric Nam and Jimin Park (She's an Idol, ex member of 15&, a female duet.). Eric Nam especially saw how good they were from the get-go and he's been good friends with them ever since he met them on ASC. Then Namjoon went on Problematic Men many times, but they got more popular and busy and he's not been able to go back on the show. He liked being on there though- Problematic men is a show that consists of a Pannel of intelligent men(All 6 men that are on the show have been named- Hot Brained men or Sexy brain men), they test their intelligence in various ways and in various subjects. Because of RM's high IQ, they invited him to be one of the regular 6. He was on the show from episode 1 to episode 21. It's a great show and it really showcases RM's intelligence, plus it's just funny to see how the older guys react to how quick witted Namjoon is lol. The other guys are pretty quick too, and they're really funny so the show is interesting. But yes, The B-Free incident played a small role in BigHit deciding that they just needed to bypass everyone else and make their own show. Also an incident with a young 16-17 year old Jungkook who brought hamburgers to a show he was on alone and the hosts of the show refused to eat the hamburgers and made fun of JK for bringing them.. but JK was just trying to be nice and do something nice for the hosts who were a lot older than him. One of those hosts apologized and JK seemed to forgive him as BTS did a special with him and another host who they really like a lot. The show was called 'You Quiz on the block'. It was a great show, they invited an ARMY who went viral for dancing BTS's dances. They had her on another episode but brought her back for this because BTS were there in person and she got to dance for BTS. it was honestly so cute and she was really out there representing ARMYs. I recommend watching that when you can because it was great. Thanks for giving me a shout out. I just give what info I know of, so I don't think I did anything special lol but yeah, B-Free be jailed... for now anyway. I'm glad you guys are enjoying the run episodes. ⟭⟬💜⟬⟭

Run! BTS is literally made so that the boys can have their own variety show that is set up on their terms. No backhanded comments, nothing sprung on them to make them uncomfortable, no activities they don't want to do, just fun, quality content on their own platform for army to enjoy. The show is made up of content the boys and big hit make up consistently. They keep it different while also ensuring that the boys have fun and get to experience things they never did before. It made for great tv. As time went by and their careers grew, interest increased, views increased, and budget increased so we were able to get longer episodes with outrageous content. It’s fun for them and us. The episodes also served as a bit of a break from their hectic schedules, just a time for them to enjoy themselves. Variety shows are where K-pop idols get a good amount of their publicity. Especially during the promotion period of a song/album. This allows them to reach a broader audience by displaying personality while promoting the song, too. Also, consider it a way to not be forgotten by the public, the more variety show appearances the greater public appeal an idol has. But with the creation of Run! Bts the boys did not have to depend on variety show publicity to maintain public interest. If anything they accumulated more views on their own. With this, now we have many variety shows begging to have appearances from BTS when they were not treating them well in the beginning . BTS have power over their publicity now, not the other way around. They can choose to appear anywhere they want to. Shows are waiting on their time.

💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 all of their early skits are improv, they have 1 later down (I think wings era) where they write a skit and play both production crew roles and actors. So as you know it gets chaotic while they're trying to take it so seriously. I think these kinds of variety shows are influenced by Latin celeb culture, and then they have their cultural spin on it. Run BTS usually takes a break between seasons but given off the last episode it was really sentimental and army was a huge part of the plot, the way the boys were talking it might be a little while but as y'all said it's time to catch up and start other content of theirs. Congrats on 800 patrons, 1.5 next? 💜🎉🎉

Yay thanks for the shout out 💜 Young Jimin was naughty 😂 Usually, kpop idols not only have to sing, perform and dance, but they often have to showcase their personnality and be good entertainers too. It's a lot of work. I agree with ARMYnotArmy, I think BTS rarely felt comfortable or were kinda mistreated in the past shows so BH created their own space to do that, which was such a smart move. And yes, you should watch the 'You Quiz on the Block' ep.99 on your free time, I think it's the most recent Korean show that they accepted to do in a very long time, released this year. And they also had separate interviews which are very insightful: RM with V, then JH with Jimin & JK and lastly Jin with Suga. They talk about their past experience as trainees and shared personal things. I'm sure Lo would love to know all these interesting facts about them! I already shared you the link before but here it is again (It's divided in 10 parts in Dailymotion, the separate interviews start at part 5). https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8069un?playlist=x72j6u

Thanks for the shout out. I agree with Bangtan Motion, young Jimin was a mess. As you go through these, you will definitely begin to see the some of their personalities and you can see how some of the nicknames catch on. I continue to learn more about them by going back and looking at earlier content again. Keep up the process. It may take a bit but it is worth it. My favorite stuff is when they get in the kitchen. Enjoy the ride guys.

BTS really started the trend of idols having their own variety show. YG used to have vlog-type show for each of that artist back in the day, BigbangTV, 2ne1TV, WinnerTV, etc. But after BTS really started the trend of each group, no matter the size of their company, having their own variety.

thank you guys so much for the shout out, I really appreciate it💜

Just wanna add up to what others say here. BTS for sure isn't the "innovators" of having their own variety show. But I can say that since BTS blew up, major companies/labels have been paying attention to them, like kinda studying what worked for BTS, what made them this big in the Western market, which is thru this approach, showing more of their personalities and vulnerabilities (vlogs). I noticed more groups now than in the past have their own variety shows, apart from guestings in other tv shows. And not just that, more groups too have been putting more time into vlogging and setting aside time for their fans like in Vlive.

Just a heads up, this is actually a two part episode this is part 1. Part 2 as shown at the end of this episode had Suga as the priest, I don't know if you are watching directly from vlive but it's on there as episode 6 part 2. I've seen many reactions to this episode but then everyone seems to skip part 2 or just not know that it does exist.
