BTS 'Skool Luv Affair' Album First Listen (Patreon)

This album came out in 2014, this was their third album and the last of the school trilogy. Yes like you realised BTS was mainly a hip hop group, so the first four albums were pretty hip hop heavy but still had sprinkles of other genres. there was a time where I literally just listened to this album for a month, it’s so good. Tomorrow is just timeless, you should definitely react to the live performance, the dance to this is amazing. Tomorrow is also Suga’s baby, he produced it predebut. Speaking of predebut songs, jump was also one that I think was used for an evaluation for the rap line if I’m not mistaken. For future reference, their older albums follow how hip hop albums were formatted. So it has an intro, skit and an outro. They actually continued to do that in recent albums too. Intro’s used to be rap line focused where either all or one of them would do the intro and outros were vocal like focused. They switched it around during the love yourself era where we got vocal line solo’s for the intro and then they switched it again for map of the soul 😂 As for spine breaker, it’s a Korean saying because students got obsessed with having padded expensive jackets like north face and people then went onto say that those jackets are parents spine breakers. The students would want to keep up on trends and would therefore pester their parents into buying them, breaking their parents backs since they’re the one who have to work to get the money. Basically the song is just saying, stop asking for expensive stuff from your parents you’re going to regret it when you’re older and you won’t die if you don’t follow everything that’s trendy. fun fact about ‘where do you come from?’ They’re actually rapping in satoori, their regional dialects that’s why it’s so playful sounding.

I think a lot of people get confused with Boy in/with luv hehe So, Boy in luv was the first one and is about falling in love with someone. Boy with luv is about loving yourself, finding love inside oneself and not looking for it in relationship. Something like that. There are actually a few songs which are connected. "N.o" and "On", "Save me" and "I'm fine". Maybe there's something else, I don't recall. You've watched a compilation of cyphers but they were chopped. So basically it's your first time hearing it. Supreme Boi is one of the Bangtan's producers. He actually was amongst the trainees before their debut and could have been in BTS. Btw, they have a self-made mv for "spine breaker" - it's hilarious. I thought they've made it during Run Bts, but apparently it was BTS Gayo. Anyways. it's worth watching, they are such dorks. p.s. every bangtan song is good and every bangtan song is 10000 times better life. all of them worth watching one day.

This album would always be a vibe. Songs are evergreen and I love that. Also when you get the chance to, you could check out the live performance for "Tomorrow", choreo is beautiful. Thanks for the reaction as always.

Spine Breaker is a really great song. DKDK TV has a great explanation video for it but you basically have the right concept! They filmed a MV for it and it’s the funniest thing. Hope u can watch it on ure time! Loved this album and ure reaction to it! 💜💜💜

damn I love this album so much. Fun facts "Tomorrow" and "Jump" were written and produced by Suga! While all members were writing lyrics at this time, only some were composing and really Suga was only one getting credits as main producer on songs. His songs just always happen to be my favorite and kind of how he became my bias. Bonus fun fact, he actually made "Jump" per-debut! but it didn't make it onto an album until 2 years later for this, their 3rd album. which has since almost become a tradition that his songs often sit in storage for years before making their way onto BTS official discography, lol. Partially because BTS albums are usually very themed. Like this album is mainly love songs

After V says “a party party with only you” he has the next verse, which then goes into RM’s verse! & you definitely have to watch more live versions of this song (it’s also one of my favorites) so you’ll be able to tell who’s singing in each part easily because there are so many switch ups and ad-libs (I recommend the Just One Day performance from Bang Bang Con the Live https://youtu.be/Jd0bqyPi3_c & the whole concert from Bang Bang Con the Live as a whole )💜💜also Tomorrow is one of my favorites too & the choreography is STUNNING!!! the rappers used to do all the intros while the vocalists did most outros ! t some point it shifted and it was really fun. Actually spine breaker is about teens wanting to keep up with the trends according to society, and padded jackets were VERY popular, i believe they were called 'spine breakers' because parents would break their spines at work to be able to afford this specific brand of padded jackets. Mine might not be the best explanation, but there's a really good one on youtube that everyone watches. Basically you can understand most of the song but a lot of it has to do with korean society so we can't grasp everything first listen lol. BTS were very young when they made this album, I believe jimin, taehyung and jungkook were still minors and in high school so you have to keep that in mind for some of these older songs :) Man there's so much to say but back then they had jungkook in the studio doing adlibs all day LMAOOO and in this album Tae really used that deep growly voice to the maxxx ! Also i keep reading that as a group they decided, at one point, to give more parts to the singers to let them shine because most songs were rap centered, and they were all good, but now is also good ahah, i don't have the og source but that sounds pretty logical Anyways this is the album that got me into BTS at the time so i'm glad to see you reacting to it!!

Aww I wish you watched the rap lines skool luv affair intro trailer (there's a video that goes with it , it's intense..and goes with rms remake of it in persona...) btw every album intro has a trailer lyric animated video , I especially love dark and wild album one
