thank you for this, I love reactions to albums so much. your review and thoughts were interesting and engaging and i even learnd some new things. I love that you picked Marry You as your favorite song, i haven't seen a lot of people who have this song as their favorite. I personally love their vocals so much in this one, but I'm not a big fan of the instrumental. but their vocals are so good so I don't really mind it. I think my favorites from this album are Kind, Area, Days and Years and CODE. somehow the additional songs from their repackage albums almost always ends up becoming my favorites. Area was co-written by Minho (he edited the song's lyrics 15 times before he was happy with them) and it includes several lyrical references to Jonghyun. there's a reference to their song Our Page from The Story Of Light (2018) album, which was written by the SHINee members with Jonghyun in mind. one of Minho's lines in the song translates to 'The void you left in my heart won't fill tonight'. in Area, there's also a line that translates as, 'The void you left won’t fill'. in Before Our Spring, Jonghyun's song from his album Poet | Artist, there's a memorable lyric that translates to, 'Just looking at you smiling'. in Area Taemin sings a line that translates to, 'Just look at me and smile.' it also appears to reference another Jonghyun solo song, Just Chill from his album Story Op.2. In korean, the title of the song roughly translates to 'In a Daze' - just like Taemin's line in Area, 'Move your body that was standing in a daze.' and some others references to SHINee's songs written by Jonghyun or his lines in their songs. RJ! Love this album and am so glad you did it. I see everyone filling you in on Area and Marry You but I will say a fun react for you might be their comeback show (which is on Youtube) from before Don't Call Me even dropped, where they each do a solo song and then perform Marry You, exactly as you called it--standing in front of microphones. You haven't listened to the other albums so you don't know, but Marry You is a sequel song to Replay! In that song, they're crushing on the older girl and wanting to get her attention. In Lovesick off Odd in 2015, they're with her and totally in love. And then in Marry You they're taking the next step! A thirteen year odyssey.

this was really fun to watch, thank you 💟 this album is very nice. very feel-good, very cohesive and mature maybe? i would’ve liked to hear a couple of strong r&b leaning songs but i understand that they wouldn’t have fit here. don’t call me grew on me a lot, i didn’t really like it at first. same with some of the b-sides. for now i love marry you, i really want you, area, attention, heart attack the most in my opinion their best albums are the story of light and married to the music (repackage of odd album) the story of light is just phenomenal. one of the most coherent and cohesive albums out there, both theme and production-wise. the production is very rich and robust & each song has gorgeous vocals, interesting harmonies, adlibs and lyrics in odd/married to the music repackage they were able to portray their vision and their true colors for the first time. this album is a cultural reset with it’s uniqueness, versality & the distinct colors of each tracks. it’s like their debut album but modernised and improved. their identity, maturer sound and vocal talent is very clear there. it really has everything yet sounding the best that it can. btw their debut album was very good too, actually really good for a debut, full of nice r&b ballads, the harmonies and the lyrics there are amazing and it’s kinda timeless 1 of 1 is pretty good, but it kinda lacks the magic as the album progress, it starts very strong with prism (one of their best songs), 1 of 1, feel good, and then gets weaker halway. but still pretty good looking forward to more of your reactions and opinions on their albums, both group and solo 💟🎶

I love that you watched the Atlantis and DCM videos again, it's so different now that you know who everyone is! They said this album was full of title tracks and wondered if they shouldn't have kept some back for a future release. Code is my favourite! DCM was meant to go to BoA but she thought that it was better suited to a group and Minho strolled right in to the meeting with LSM himself and claimed it for SHINee! Another idol did wear the same sweater as Key, I can't remember who right now though. I'm Heesung biased too haha! Those extensions looked so good on Key, one of my favourite hairstyles on him and he's had A LOT. Heart Attack felt like it had the most quintessentially SHINee sound on the album to me. It's incredible how spot on your mental image of Marry You was! I Really Want You, Attention and Kiss Kiss are probably my joint second favourites and they all had great performances in the Beyond Live! It really adds so much seeing them with choreo. I'm happy to tell you that Minho did all of the smooching sound effects in Kiss Kiss! Yeah the synth in Body Rythm sounded steel drum-esque to me. Shawols were clamouring for a sexy performance of it at the Beyond Live but Key ended up sneakily swiping it for his solo concert haha! Kind sounds like they're singing in space somehow, there was a beautiful vcr with falcons at the BL. It's so interesting to hear what you visualise for each song!
