And this season aired just a few months before NZ S2. Talk about a double whammy!

That's just the way you're hearing it in the English accent, no?

I’d watched 2 of these contestants (Lee and Charlotte) and knew Mike’s name but of course ended up loving all 5, this was a really good season

People like to argue about the intrusive R on the internet -- for example from Dr Who with Dalek there is often debate on whether it is "dah-lek" or "dar-lek". The thing is, vowel sounds in English vary wildly depending on dialect or regional accent and so in general, there is no "right" or "wrong" here. So, if one person speaks a dialect of English where a linking R / intrusive R is normal in that dialect, then they can say "Ja-Mar-Lee". But if a different speaker of a different dialect says "Ja-Mah-Lee" -- neither one of those people is wrong. You could argue that however Jamali says it is correct, but even then saying proper names in your own regional accent isn't right or wrong either. The way I speak English, I don't put those R's there. If I were to try to say "Ja-Mar-Lee", at best, it would probably sound like I trying to make fun of a posh british accent (which I wouldn't want to do).

You should check out the UK shows "Ghosts". It's hilarious and stars Charlotte Richie along with task master alum Kiell Smith-Byone and Katy Wix

hey good point id pronounce mah and mar the same i was just trying to get across its not "Ma" was thinking of a doc Jamali did called "Hate thy neighbour (at 14:00)" where he chatted with people from the far right/edl and one of them kept getting his name wrong and said it about 100 different ways like "Jam-Ally, Ja-Mile-Lee" and Jamali kept trying to say to him its Ja-mar/mah-lee but yeh it depends on your accent to a certain extent.

Oh I did not have that context, that's definitely a different situation than what I was thinking :)
