Sasori grew up kinda like Naruto did. Never knew his parents. He never knew if his parents loved him or not. He can only see what other families are like, but he can never have that kind of family because they're gone (Grandma Chiyo didn't count prob cuz she wasn't always around)

The twistedness did not come from him wanting to be with his parents, having the puppet parents was no different than having a picture of his parents in a way, the problem was when he 'slipped' and let go of the Chakra strings to puppeteer the parent dolls, he realize they were 'fragile' and can be broken, that they were real, and like Gaara, "real love" cannot be found in puppet dolls. Because human puppets use the 'shell' or parts of the human, the doll is much closer to the human than a regular puppet. It's possible that he couldn't use his parents' bodies because they were already long decayed and 'unusable' to become human puppets, esp by the time he learned how to make human puppets. Humans are fragile, and can die, but give warmth. Puppets are fragile, won't die, and can't give warmth. Combining the two, the human puppet is a hybrid and has the best of both worlds. It's prob because he never had parental love "to begin with", everything he knows and sees is artificial. This is why a lot of kids who have issues with parental/authority figures, particularly those who are adopted, have similar problems. They are terrible at forming and maintaining relationships and very likely to exhibit Borderline Personality Disorder behavior. They will try anything 'but' the old/traditional ways, often running toward trying things that shouldn't be tried. Exploring all possibilities in cult religion or sexuality, but never knowing what its like to have stable morals, principles, and a stable family and self-responsibility, how to have restraint, etc.
