You're kinda missing the point cuz you're too caught up on them being 'evil people' to understand their humanity XD You gotta look underneath the surface. Deidara sees beauty as something fleeting, akin to a flower dying faster due to its short lifespan. You can only truly appreciate beauty 'because' it doesn't last forever. Life is fleeting. Beauty is fleeting. For Sasori its the opposite. Think of villains or 'normal people' who freeze people or freeze-dry their pets so they can 'eternally' stay the same. Essentially these are things that matter to them (Deidara and Sasori) If you are a child and your parents were taken away from you, or even a lover, you'd want time to freeze, and you don't want people or pets or flowers to age and die. You want them to live forever. Even if its frozen in time. It's very sad and beautiful at the same time. And it speaks to the suffering and trauma these two may have had. The bird did not 'munch' on Gaara, it was fiddling him around in the beak like a Pelican cuz he was sticking out like a thumb, it was repositioning gaara to fit inside of its mouth/beak so he won't fall out. Birds don't chew, they just bob/shake their heads and open/close their beak like other animals do to slide their 'prey' or babies in the mouth for safeguarding/carrying.
