Good story, I really liked the whispering when The Minister was speaking... deliciously creepy 😁🖤

It’s interesting that Tempe is ‘Lady Tempe’ and the minister doesn’t use an equivalent title for Gregorovitch. ‘Dread knight’ comes in running text, and could imply Sir, but it wasn’t used in an official capacity. Ministers like government ministers, like church ministers, or are they one and the same? Gregorovitch is wearing a top hat and tails, and ‘could have been king of the inverted world himself.’ We could be talking about countenance and posture here, conveying kingship, but I’m thinking that’s an interesting way for a king to dress. A king that could pass as a robber baron. I do appreciate ‘the ghosts of my slain’ as a weapon. She brought her own army of the dead; they just couldn’t see them, until they joined them. Nice touch having them glow like her headphones. Also appreciate how Tempe offers reconciliation ‘one more time,’ and how she is ‘once again’ proven victorious. Is the wager always a pearl, and if so, does she have a stash? A stash of pearls and a stash of the slain, this girl might be working in quantity. I’m enjoying the theme of underestimating folks. Tempe is too young, and too short to be a threat, the man who ends Russell is assumed to be a human man and that is all. The man who also has a black pearl. That’s interesting.
