The quote about unlocking the Tardis of possibility is now living above my desk.

Stormy

Now you're speaking my language - performance and production design. I'll always prefer practical effects over CGI. Yes, CGI has greatly improved, but I don't get the same visceral response that I get from practicals. And yes, it's hard to hear the actors complaining (I'd kill for their jobs), but I also totally get it. If I'm supposed to be afraid of a terrifying dragon inches from my face, but I'm staring at a guy in a green unitard holding a stick with a tennis ball at the end of it, I'm having to really pull from the depths to be immersed in the scene on top of dialogue, motivation, beats, set ups, marks, etc. It's a double-edged sword. And I know that wasn't the focus of your pep talk, but that was an adult ADHD....ooh! SHINY! moment. I could get lost in the twists and turns this conversation poses.
