POOM! Another Blue MCU reaction! Today's gonna be a good day.

Thadman

Just started watching and to clear something up, there are certain Marvel characters that Marvel no longer owns the rights to make movies, TV, cartoons with because in the 90s Marvel went bankrupt and sold the rights to some characters to other studios. At this point now, with Marvel Studios & Disney, they're doing GREAT so they bought back many characters (like the X-Men and mutants and The Fantastic Four from FOX), but Sony still holds the rights for Spider-Man and his pantheon of associated characters (Venom, Carnage, etc.). Universal owns the rights for Hulk so that Marvel hasn't been able to do a Hulk themed movie yet. Sony and Marvel worked out a deal that allowed Marvel to do 3 Spider-Man movies, but Sony still holds onto the rights. This movie was back in 2008, before "Marvel Studios" had been created, so if you notice, both Iron Man may have the Marvel logo, but it doesn't say Marvel Studios. This movie is a Universal Pictures movie in conjunction with Marvel Studios (which was just created then) and Marvel decided to incorporate it into their cinematic universe that they were creating and Universal was OK with it, hence the post-credits scene. When Hulk appears in the MCU, he's played by a different actor. Can't say the specific reasons why, just know that next time you see him, it's the same character, but different actor. There's a lot of weird legal shenanigans goin' on with some of these characters where deals have to be made for Marvel Studio to put them in movies, but I'm pretty sure they can do TV shows of all their characters (maybe not Spider-Man), but they can with Hulk. I had heard just this week that they may have gotten the rights to do a Hulk movie, finally, but I'm not completely sure about that.

There are a lot of Easter Eggs for the TV show of The Incredible Hulk, from the 70s. The old TV show he switched to early on when he was in Brasil before he turned to Sesame Street was "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" where the lead of it (that got slapped in the face) was Bill Bixby, who played Banner on the TV show. The jacked security guard that he gave the pizza to in order to get into the university to get his data was played by Lou Ferrigno, who played the Hulk in the old TV show, painted all green. There's also music cues that are the theme song from the old show and him trying to say, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" in Portuguese (but saying "hungry" instead) is his most famous line from the old shows pilot where he said, "Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

The Weapons Plus serum was a different version of the super-soldier serum they were trying to create that he said was promising.

The army isn't trying to kill the Hulk, They're trying to capture him to use him (well Banner, before he can turn into the Hulk). If they can't take him alive, they'll settle for dead and, like Banner said, dissect him to try to isolate what the Hulk is and refine it to put into soldiers. Throughout the comic's history, Hulk just wants to be left alone, but the army (and General Ross, in particular) just keeps pursuing him. One thing I didn't notice when I saw this the first couple of times was when Banner first changes in the soda factory, before you see the Hulk, you hear a low rumbling voice saying, "Leave me alone."

Thadman

Two things, the Abomination is bigger and stronger than the Hulk at Hulk's base transformation. BUT, the Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets and they've said, in the comics, that it makes the top end of his strength nearly limitless...as long as he can get angry enough.

Thadman

That Tony Stark appearance was the post credits scene. The blu ray has a bunch of deleted scenes (about 30 mins worth) that are delete and extended scenes and it made the movie so much better 'cause it gave more insight into all the characters and their relationships. You even understand General Ross and his motivations better. They make total sense. I disagree with his viewpoint, it makes sense from his line of thinking. One original post credit scene was seeing Banner travel to the Arctic and gets to a cliff and pulls out a gun and sticks it in his mouth. Then it pans back very far away and you hear the gunshot but you hear a LOUD roar that causes a massive avalanche.

Thadman

I'm pretty sure the next movie is "Iron Man 2."

Thadman

Sorry I wrote so much. If you can't tell, the MCU is my happy place and I get excited. :-D
