I like to believe it was a combination of trust and conviction for why Hiei didn’t join in. Trust that Yusuke would be fine with whatever was thrown at him since they had developed a sense of respect for one another during the Maze Castle arc and then conviction in making sure his sister was safe above all else. Because if I look at it at its most basic level, until she was safe, she could even have been used to force him to fight against team Urameshi. But either way, onto the next arc which I think you’ll really get a kick out of as they expand the world even further. I don’t want to say too much yet but am extremely excited to see/hear how you react to what’s coming next and especially your thoughts once the arc comes to a close.
