Old Gregg’s Funk

In regards to people questioning Hinata’s ability to see, it helps to realize that for a lot of the midair stuff the anime slows it down for the sake of the viewer but in actuality its all happening in just a couple seconds with a lot of quick movements. So most of what people see while jumping is going to be sort of general shapes not a clear picture. It might help to watch a couple minutes of like a volleyball pov video on youtube to get a better idea of how quick everything is and what a players field of vision looks like if you’re interested 😊

I think the disconnect is that they (Hinata and Kageyama) had started implementing different quicks. There’s the regular quick and the minus tempo quick. The minus tempo is the one where Hinata closes his eyes to hit. Mid-air battles already happen in seconds or less so it might be easier to see why everyone’s so dismissive to Hinata while he’s trying to say he wants to scan the entire other side of the court, aim, and hit when the minus tempo set is even faster than a normal one. The act would be considered superhuman in the world of Haikyu. As far as how he’s acting, it’s kind of genius really how it’s written. Hinata is the perfect decoy in an almost meta sense of the word. He shines so bright that it’s easy to forget he has a lot of shortcomings when it comes to volleyball. The fact that he’s pretty much all self taught, hasn’t had a mentor, and his first real team experience wasn’t until he got to Karasuno kind of puts things into perspective, for me at least. He essentially has so much raw talent but lacks a lot of the fundamentals. Something they touched on in the first episode of the first season. Remember when Kageyama watched his sliding spike in their match and asked him something along the lines of “what have you been doing?” This show isn’t afraid to get real deep into these characters and what makes them what they are even if it’s not the prettiest

Oh right there were different set of quick attacks! smh Another comment had to remind me that the anime does slow down Piñata's vision and although I kept verbally saying yeah "it's quick" I guess I don't truly understand how quick it actually happens in really life.
