Wednesday Art #3, Jacob and Alpha (Patreon)

Sometimes when you want to look forward to the future, you need to look to the beginning and the stories that started them all. They are our first drafts of our desires and interests, and we will always be fond, and a tiny bit embarrassed by these projects. Nonetheless, they are special in a way entirely their own, and remembering them reminds us why we create in the first place.

With that in mind, please meet some of my oldest characters, co created between myself and my wife in our first longest term story.

Jacob Warren, a 19 year old college student and survivor of the Tokyo Bay Kaiju attack 5 years prior. The only survivor of his family other than his little sister, Maia, he has since moved to California to live with his uncle and aunt, attending college and attempting to work in secret on his writing career, already a successful underground author by the name of Obsidian. His unique condition and appearance, brought on by exposure to the toxic Kaiju blood, mark him as a Mutate, and this meaning he is closely observed by the military liaison who pulled him from the burning wreckage of his family car.

Alpha, an unknown and exotic woman recently having moved into Jacob Warren's neighborhood. Tall, powerful beyond human constraints, and beautiful if quirky, Alpha is a woman without a past, and she wants to keep it that way. Rumored to be a Mutate, she and young Jacob form an immediate bond through not entirely understood means, quickly falling in love even if neither of them is skilled or knows how to show it. As such, it becomes an adorable romp of budding emotions, as well as managing their very unique connection, growing ever more mysterious as more of Alpha's dark past emerges from the cosmos, and her true nature is revealed.
