One thing I've been silently wishing to see emerging from the open-source audio community was an LV2 waveshaper plug-in that I could use to define custom distortion curves. There were bits and pieces of something like that around, but always locked inside of a package, that couldn't be used universally across multiple DAWs. Not any more.
A few months back I was contacted by a stranger, who told me he has made such a plug-in.
That plugin is called Wolf Shaper and was created by Patrick Desaulniers.
Since he has recently published binary packages for Wolf Shaper on the projects Github page, allowing it be easily used without having to build from source - I've decided it's time to finally talk about it, as I've been using it in every single track I've worked on since Patrick showed it to me.
And this video will hopefully introduce this awesome tool to more open-source musicians out there.
