i did not think that section was "true canon", i was still by the original video girl AI "opening" of the comic where the fox was the only true animal, everything else was something "external" trying to break the 4rth wall and partially succeeding at times to insert themselves in the narrative in a forceful way, this instead establishes that there actually are animal people in the world and they are not... external... to it. So it surprised me.
