Yes, Meng Qi is pronounced "Men Chee" it's the international transliteration, also the reason why the "power of the mind" which is indeed written "Qi" is pronounced by some people "chi" and by some others "ki". It's a confusion that has lasted for a few decades by now. 😅

I would have used X, since it is the Greek letter chi .. if I saw 'xi' I would pronounce it "she" .. some people would try to say "ksi" .. but come on. Nobody looking at 'qi' for the first time is going to say anything other than "key" or maybe "kwee".

Yep. It came from a time where international spelling was not standardized so when the conquerers came to china and heard about this fabled "Tchee mind powers" they wrote it down in various ways until it was standardized into Qi, though it makes little sense, and i agree.
