I know of at least two other songs with this title.  My version has slightly more in common with the older one, the folk song, not by Hank Williams.

Those of you who've been keeping up with my YouTube channel may recognize the synth underbed here.  It took me a while to figure out what to do with that, but I believe it was worth the effort.

Profoundly meaningful lyrics:

It was Tuesday in Texas and traffic was thick with the smell of old coupons and gin:  An atmosphere sweaty and grayish and dense, and you prayed that it couldn't get in.  And somewhere ahead, by mile marker eighteen, some dumb inconsiderate jerk got out of his car and lay down in the road, making everyone else late for work.

I saw the light coming down.  Yes, I saw the light shining all around.

They arrived on the scene with a hoist and a chain and a couple of buckets of brew.  They all did their best, at the Mayor's request, to let all the traffic get through.  But some lost their places, and some lost their minds, and some simply stopped and sat down.  As I ran out of gas, I looked up at the sky, and I noticed it over the town.

I saw the light coming down.  I saw the light shining all around me.
