Modular generated rhythm section (using Tonic sequencer to control more of it than you probably expect).  Improvised organ melody played "live" on a Casio keyboard doing a surprisingly good Hammond imitation.

🤔👍 I'm almost tempted to ask you for a rendition of your own of one of the old Star Control 2 themes. 😅 🤔 waaait. Can that kind of stuff be a commission too?

tegerio

Audio commissions would be prohibitively expensive and take a lot of time. I'm not familiar with Star Control 2 so I would have to spend a lot of time listening to it to get the feel for what it sounds like ... aaannd ... Patreon rules regarding audio do not allow "covers." It has to be original i.e. copyright not held by someone else who could sue if they found it.

Simone Spinozzi

Technically the game is now public domain released by the creators along with its art and music. 🤔 But yes. If you prefer your own music against covers... That is indeed a very good choice. 👍

tegerio

Well, if it's public domain then that removes the legal objection. The only remaining obstacles are time and expense.

Simone Spinozzi

🤔 uhm... you tempt me quite a lot especially because a lot of the "mod music" of my youth has qualities that resemble your music production here. And you've shown me you know quite a lot. I've never even considered of commissioning music before. And even then... asking for renditions of somebody else's covers seems like asking another artist for fanart. So yes... i'm rather confliceted... i threw it as a joke before... but the more i think about it the more i'm seeing "grounds i've never even considered testing before" so i have no idea what i'm doing. If you have prices, however feel free to post them here. They might help me. Also i'd have to check around how to describe how commissioning music should work because, again, i would have no idea what i'm doing.

Most of these analogue techniques are older than I am (I was 5 years old when the Korg MS-20 first came out, and I remember listening to records like "Switched On Bach" and "In a Happy Moog" when I was a wee sprout) but they still sound Technologically Advanced .. I guess because synthesizers have been the "cutting edge music of the future" for the past 60 years at least. I have no idea what to charge for audio commissions, because I've never done one .. unless you count the attempts at making ad music but that was more than 10 years ago. It would depend greatly on the assignment, how complex and how long it would take to finish.
