Nice Try (Patreon)

I wasn't going to kvetch about this subject any more, but .. for heaven's sake, look at the name.  This is too hilarious not to share.

If I look at your profile, and it looks like this (i.e. you just joined, you are only supporting one creator, and your user name is "Botsworth Bottington the Bot") then I am going to deem it Suspicious.  I will send you an email using the address you gave Patreon when you signed up, and which Patreon shares with me so I can contact my patrons with personal messages when appropriate.  If the message bounces back "Undeliverable" by the system because that address does not actually exist, then guess who gets blocked from my patrons list?

"Bad Bot Ideas" was my patron for 21 hours, and will no doubt return tomorrow in a different guise - I have received at least one fake pledge every day this month - but I find some satisfaction in knowing that he (she? them? it?) is going to have to keep coming up with new names and re-registering every time.

I have accepted this as part of the job, Bot Botley, and I'll keep doing it until Pay-Up-Front becomes available.
