This week we'll be publishing a lesson on witch hunts directed by TED-Ed's very own Lisa LaBracio!

The animation opens in the German town of Nördlingen in 1593, where the innkeeper Maria Höll has found herself accused of witchcraft. It moves on to explore why these witch hunts occurred, as educator Brian A. Pavlac digs into this horrific chapter in human history.

In advance of the lesson's publication, we thought you might enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at some of the sketches Lisa did for this chilling lesson.

First, a study of the medieval town of Nördlingen...

Below, Lisa explores some character designs...

Finally, look out for this very special, highly gif-able moment in the video. It involves "kissing the anus of Satan" -- one of the many purported sins of so-called witches...

We can't wait to share this animation with you all. And remember that besides the educator, animator, and our little team, you are the only ones who know about it, so 🤐 until then, please! 😉🔒👻 🤓👀 💖
