There is a question that has been tossed around by philosophers and art critics for decades: how much should an artist's intention affect your interpretation of the work? Do the artist’s plans and motivations affect its meaning? Or is it completely up to the judgment of the viewer? Hayley Levitt explores the complex web of artistic interpretation, through the beautiful animation (interpretation) of Avi Ofer.

Here are some gifs to give you a little taste of the debate that's coming your way:

What's more important, the message you draw from a work of art, or the artists intended message?

Do you know where the term "the proof is in the pudding" comes from? Get ready to find out!

Whose reaction or interpretation is "right"?

If you found a message seemingly  written by a wave, and the message moved you to tears, would the message become less moving if you discovered it had just been scratched into the sand by someone walking down the beach?

We can't wait to share this animation with you all next week. And remember that besides the educator, animator, and our little team, you are the only ones who know about it, so 🀐 until then, please! πŸ˜‰πŸ”’πŸ‘» πŸ€“πŸ‘€ πŸ’–
