🔨🧪🟩 Ooze Hammers, while not exceedingly rare, carry a mystique amongst the blacksmithing and adventuring communities alike. Originating from the innovative but often hazardous experiments of the Gnomish blacksmith, Eliza Cogspark, these unique warhammers quickly found a niche in both subterranean and urban engagements. The Ooze Hammer, encrusted with a perpetually leaking acidic slime, housed a curious sight: a contained hexagonal window placed strategically in its center, revealing an ever-vibrant ooze, animatedly squirming and pressing against the clear barrier.

Eliza, whose workshop was nestled in the bustling metropolis of Gnomeregan, was renowned for her penchant for melding the mechanical with the biological, often sourcing inspirations from the perilous ecosystems of the Underdark. During a venture into the dark, she discovered a particularly potent ooze, its corrosive qualities unmatched by common acids. Enthralled by its potential, Eliza devised a means to harness this acidic potency in a more controlled, weaponized form.

Thus, the Ooze Hammer was born - a tool initially designed for miners and dungeon delvers to navigate the hazardous terrains of the underground worlds. Yet, as whispers of its efficacy spread, various factions, mercenaries, and even illicit circles sought to procure these peculiar weapons, finding their armor-corroding abilities to be advantageous in numerous confrontations.

Craftsmen and alchemists alike have tried to replicate Eliza’s creation, often with varied success, leading to the proliferation of Ooze Hammers across the realm. Some whisper that Eliza’s original design held secrets unrevealed to the many who now replicate the weapon, and her original Ooze Hammers, identifiable by an arcane symbol on the hilt, possess a particularly voracious ooze unlike its mass-produced counterparts. But such secrets Eliza took to her grave, leaving the legend of the original Ooze Hammer an enigma, lost amidst the sprawling saga of innovation and warfare. 🔨🧪🟩

Ooze Hammer

Weapon (warhammer), uncommon (requires attunement)

It emanates a continuous, menacing drip of sizzling acid from countless minute cracks along its surface. Crafted from a seemingly impenetrable dark alloy, its form paradoxically both constrains and liberates the ooze within. At the hammer’s core, safeguarded by a hexagonal window of enchanted glass, resides a vibrant, ever-shifting ooze.

Upon hitting a target with the Ooze Hammer for the first time on your turn, the target takes an additional 1d4 acid damage. The caustic ooze from the hammer adheres to the target, corroding armor and defensive gear, imposing a -2 penalty to its AC until the start of your next turn. This effect does not stack with additional hits.
