To an unacquainted traveler, Frostfen appears as a quaint village, cradled by whispering pines and shrouded in an ever-present blanket of snow. However, to those in the know, Frostfen is renowned as the origin of the coveted Coldsnap Vestment.

The tale of this vestment begins with Elara Snowweaver, a masterful seamstress and arcane artisan. As Frostfen’s inhabitants contended with the forest's chilling specters and haunting frosts, Elara sought to weave protection not only from the mundane cold but also from the ethereal chill that occasionally gripped the hearts of even the bravest villagers.

Under the silvery glow of a winter full moon, Elara interlaced threads spun from the heart of frost ferns with leather treated in enchanted snowmelt. Coldsnap Vestment

Armor (leather), rare (requires attunement)

Subtle ice protrusions, mirroring the delicate frost crystals formed on a winter's morn, rise gracefully from its shoulder areas. The feel of the leather invokes memories of the quiet chill during the earliest snowfall.

The frost essence woven into the leather grants the wearer a +1 bonus to AC.

The vestment has 10 charges and regains 1d6 + 2 expended charges daily at dawn.

While wearing the vestment, you can use an action to expend 1 of its charges to release a chilling aura. For the next minute, an area within a 5-foot radius around you becomes difficult terrain for your enemies as the ground freezes over. Creatures starting their turn in this area or entering it for the first time on their turn must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15) or be restrained as ice forms around their feet and lower legs, immobilizing them. A creature restrained by the ice can use its action to make a Strength check against the DC, breaking free on a success. Additionally, while the aura is active, you can use a bonus action and expend an additional charge to project a burst of frost from your hands. Each creature of your choice in a 15-foot cone must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 15), taking 2d8 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
