🦇🌃🖤 In the labyrinthine alleyways of Nightspire City, where shadows dance and danger lurks in every corner, legends whisper of a silent guardian. Neither a king nor a hero of old, this enigmatic figure emerges from the darkness only to return to its embrace, leaving behind justice in his wake.

Silent rooftops hear his steps, and the crescent moon witnesses his resolve. Criminals and malevolent beings dare not speak his name, for they know he is always watching, always waiting. Draped in the mysteries of the night and armed with items forged from the very essence of shadow and flame, he stands as Nightspire's unwavering sentinel.

The city's elite scoff at such tales, dismissing them as stories for children. Yet, every so often, when darkness descends and the air grows cold, a symbol - neither entirely of this world nor the next - gleams atop the highest towers, a beacon of hope for the innocent and a warning for the wicked.

To those who have seen and lived to tell the tale, he is the embodiment of retribution, a living myth that binds Nightspire together. To the rest, he remains an enigma, the whispered legend of the Dark Knight. 🦇🌃🖤

Helm of Shadows' Whisper

Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement)

Crafted from the blackest meteoric iron and set with a visor that recalls the silhouette of a menacing creature of the night, this helm provides the wearer with a unique attunement to the darkness.

Night's Dominion. Activating the helm's command word plunges your surroundings into pitch blackness while heightening your senses. For 1 minute, your vision penetrates through any mundane darkness as if it were broad daylight, allowing you to see everything within a 120-foot radius. To all other creatures, this area becomes an impenetrable void, rendering them effectively blind. Only magic that can dispel powerful darkness can counteract this effect. During this time, you move with unparalleled stealth, granting you advantage on all Stealth checks. This ability can be activated once and recharges at dusk.

Plate of the Silent Vigilante

Armor (plate), very rare (requires attunement)

Crafted from a union of obsidian and silvered steel, this armor stands as a beacon of hope in the darkest nights. Its reflective surface absorbs and refracts ambient light, lending the wearer an aura of deep mystery. Nestled at its core is a faint emblem, the symbol of a silent sentinel, ever watchful from the shadows.

Shadow Shuriken. As a bonus action, you can conjure up to three bat-shaped shurikens wreathed in shadows into your hand, for which you are proficient in. These weightless shurikens possess the light and finesse properties and can be thrown with a range of 30/90 feet. On a hit, each shuriken inflicts 1d8 slashing damage, augmented by an additional 1d4 necrotic damage. After landing a hit, roll a d6; on a roll of 5 or 6, the shurikens drain the target's spirit, diminishing their attack rolls and saving throws by 1 until the end of their next turn. This morale-sapping effect can stack up to three times. After use, the shurikens dissipate, melting back into the umbral mist from whence they came. You can summon these shurikens a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses at dusk.

Cinderbat

Weapon (any sword), very rare (requires attunement)

The blade smolders with a constant flow of orange and red hues beneath its surface.

Bat's Blaze. When you strike a target with this sword, the blade ignites ethereal bats made of fire that emerge and cling to the target. Each hit deals an additional 1d6 fire damage and attaches a fiery bat to the target. When the target moves more than 10 feet, each attached bat combusts, dealing 1d8 fire damage per bat. If the target remains stationary until their next turn, the bats dissipate harmlessly. If a creature is reduced to 0 hit points by an attack from this sword, as a reaction, you may choose to transfer any bats that were attached to the fallen creature to another creature within 5 feet. The transferred bats continue to cling and await their fiery detonation as usual.

Ebonwing Cloak

Wondrous Item, very rare

This sleek, midnight-black cloak is accentuated by subtle, shimmering patterns resembling outspread bat wings when viewed under moonlight.

Night's Whisper. When donned under the cover of night, this cloak merges with the shadows around you. While in dim light or darkness, you become incredibly silent and almost translucent, allowing you to pass unnoticed through areas. You have advantage on Stealth checks made in such conditions. Moreover, once per night, you can focus on the cloak's pattern, letting you glide silently from any height without taking fall damage. During this descent, you travel horizontally up to 60 feet for every 10 feet you fall, effectively allowing you to glide through the night. The cloak regains this ability at dusk.

2-Set Bonus: Guardian of the Night

When the Plate of the Silent Vigilante is one of the two equipped items and you are in dim light or darkness, your movements become swift and precise. You gain a +10 feet bonus to your movement speed. Additionally, whenever you use the Shadow Shuriken ability, you can conjure one additional shuriken.

4-Set Bonus: Eclipse of the Dark Knight

Embracing the full potential of the Dark Knight equipment, you become a beacon of shadowy power. As an action, you can envelop yourself in a cloak of living shadows resembling a swarm of bats. For the next minute, all of your attacks deal an additional 1d6 necrotic damage, and any time you take damage, a shadowy bat breaks off from your form and retaliates, dealing 1d8 necrotic damage to the attacker. Furthermore, while in this form, you gain the ability to meld with the shadows. As a bonus action, you can teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet, provided both the starting and ending points are in dim light or darkness. Once you use this 4-set bonus, you can't use it again until the next dusk.
