This whole backstory with Isabel was supposed to be two to four panels of "my wife was too old to have kids, so she told me that if I wanted some, I'd have to have them myself."

I'm thinking of splitting it into two: a low-born girl working in various roles as a maid, scullion, cook, laundress, etc., and then being upgraded to a high-born girl working as Isabel's Lady-in-Waiting.

Its why these kinds of stories have drawn me in since I was at school and read a book about a boy turned into a stray cat to learn and grow. Also how a lot of stories have Merlin teaching Arthur by turning him into various animals.
