Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 2010 FULL REACTION

Comments

Adam Belfort

Crazy thing is, I save your reactions as my evening movies. I'm so glad you're doing this. Hope you guys are doing well !

Célia Boisson

They really downplayed the boys reaction at Malfoy Manor. It's like they don't really care. In the book, when Bellatrix says that she will interrogate Hermione, Ron screams "No! You can have me, keep me". Bellatrix hit him across the face and tells him that if Hermione dies under questioning, she will take him next. In the cellar, they hear Hermione screams, and Ron is going crazy. He is screaming Hermione's name, banging at the walls, sobbing. The movies didn't show it well because all the characters are so different. But the most important person for Harry is Ron. When Ron and Harry were not talking in Book 4, Harry was miserable. When Harry and Hermione were not talking in Book 3, he didn't mind as much. It was Ron who was taken in the lake during the second task. Ron was his first friend ever. There's a big part of Book 1 where it's just the two of them, they are not friend with Hermione yet. Ron is the glue that holds all three of them together. When he left in Book 7, Harry and Hermione barely talked. They were both miserable. The movies completely changed the dynamic between the three, so it's normal to feel different than book readers. Ron would never say to Harry that he has no family. The fight between them was way different in the book. There was no jealousy involved either, no "i saw you two",  there was never any hint of anything between Harry and Hermione, no Dumbledore asking about them, no tent dance and else. It was all an addition in the movies. Their fight was because they just heard something on the radio about the Weasley  and Ron was scared for his family. He was mad at Harry because he didn't take the threat as seriously as him. The only thing hinting romance between Harry and Hermione during the 7 books is the scene when Ron destroy the locket that shows false Harry and false Hermione kiss. That's not even the real characters. Ron never showed any jealousy before that. And just after, we get this nice exchange : “After you left,” he said in a low voice, grateful for the fact that Ron’s face was hidden, “she cried for a week. Probably longer, only she didn’t want me to see. There were loads of nights when we never even spoke to each other. With you gone…” He could not finish; it was only now that Ron was here again that Harry fully realized how much his absence had cost them. “She’s like my sister,” he went on. “I love her like a sister and I reckon she feels the same way about me. It’s always been like that. I thought you knew.” Ron did not respond, but turned his face away from Harry and wiped his nose noisily on his sleeve. [...] “I’m sorry,” he said in a thick voice. “I’m sorry I left. I know I was a--a--” He looked around at the darkness, as if hoping a bad enough word would swoop down upon him and claim him. “You’ve sort of made up for it tonight,” said Harry. “Getting the sword. Finishing off the Horcrux. Saving my life.” “That makes me sound a lot cooler than I was,” Ron mumbled. “Stuff like that always sounds cooler than it really was,” said Harry. “I’ve been trying to tell you that for years.” Simultaneously they walked forward and hugged, Harry gripping the still-sopping back of Ron’s jacket.

Apart from a few things that annoy me, but are because they messed up the previous movies (like Ron's character, the mirror appearing out of nowhere, and Dobby's death being way less impactful because we didn't see him since movie 2), this is one of my favorite movie of the franchise. I really like the atmosphere. It's a lot different than the other movies, and what i found is, either you love it, or you put it at the bottom.

Octavia

The books and the movies aren't the same thing though. Personally, I feel there is way, way more chemistry between Harry & Hermione in the movies. They have much more focus on 'close' scenes in the movies. I don't think it's necessary to convince anyone otherwise, if they also see it or ship it.

Fun Facts About Harry Potter Part 7: 1. The actor who plays Neville was happy that his character finally stopped having to wear a fat suit and fake teeth in this movie. He said he didn’t mind wearing them until he hit puberty and there were more girls on set 2. Unnoticed to many (including myself the first time I watched it) but it is Mad Eye’s eye that is attached to Delores Umbridges room that Harry sneaks into 3. There is a deleted scene from this movie (I highly recommend watching them) which shows Krum returning at Bill and Fleurs wedding and dancing with Hermione 4. Hermione’s mom is played by the same actress who plays Catilin Stark in Game of Thrones 5. In the scene when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are running from the snatchers they had to ask the actors to slow down because they were outrunning the other actors chasing them

Octavia

I love this movie for all the time spent with Harry and Hermione... as I prefer their bond over the others. They just have a great vibe that flows so well on screen. Best part of the movie for me.

PsYcHoKiLLa

Nobody ever notices the wand in the animation as Dumbledore's even though you see it multiple times during the series. The goblin that was being held wasn't a teacher either, he works in the Gringott bank which is why she brought him out to question him about the sword.

Nathan Hill

My second favorite HP movie after Prisoners. It’s a different vibe but a really well done movie for characterization and dialogue imo

Kaylee Smeaton

I've been unwell with flu, you've just made my day. Love you Rob & Trin

Han

Yeah I hate all this the books are better than the movies, you can’t compare a book to a movie A book has way more material while a movie has a time limit they can’t show everything or it would just be boring.

Célia Boisson

You're right, I guess I'm so annoyed by those movies because I never got to see my favorite characters on screen. I really wish I could dissociate the two and try to enjoy the movies for what they are. But it's really difficult when it's clear things are missing. Like you can't watch these movies and not think sometimes "this thing or this person are there out of nowhere, I guess it makes sense in the books". Like you can totally watch the Lord of the Rings wihtout knowing it comes from books. But you can't with HP.

Célia Boisson

The resurrection stone and the philosopher's stone are not the same ;-)

FedeM

"Dobby never meant to kill. Dobby only meant to maim or seriously injure" will always be one of the best lines in the whole franchise for me. R.I.P. Dobby, you're the goat

Deathhead

This is actually the first movie I ever saw in a cinema

Wendy Sparks

I appreciate the bleakness of this one. It's an essential part of the 2-part build-up. Like with Infinity War, or Mockingjay pt 1. And I really enjoy watching the trio struggling alone together. Harry & Hermione especially. My favorite moment is them saying Merry Christmas in the cemetery. Very happy that the band got back together. (But I'd also happily watch Harry & Hermione grow old together in the the forest. Their dynamic just naturally seems more compelling on-screen. They get the most done. But the story, and its forced pairings, must continue their course. At least this part gave me a break from Ginny. Much prefer seeing more Luna.) There's just so much happening - this part would've been better served if longer. Gotta say though: the animation for the 3 Brothers story is still amazing.

Octavia

RIP Hedwig, RIP Mad-Eye, RIP Dobby.

2024-01-12 18:57:11 Just to help clarify one small detail: if you recall in the last movie, Dumbledore's hand was black and he told Harry that he'd tell him what happened but never did, it's because of what he did to destroy the ring horcrux. A lot of people assume, it has to do with his battle with Voldemort so it's easy to overlook. It's never fully explained in the movies but that's how we know that the ring was destroyed in addition to the diary.

Prof. Umbridge, the bitch in pink, played the Queen the past couple of seasons of The Crown. She's married to the butler from Downtown Abbey (he's so good but can't remember his name).

Oh man, I hope you give us part 2 soon, I can't wait🥰

The actor Rhys Ifans who played Luna's father was also in House of the Dragon (Otto Hightower) and The Amazing Spiderman (Curt Connors/Lizard). Great actor.

Alissonbecker94

A bit much talking when there is important dialog... other then that great reaction!

MaggieS61

He’s also the wacky friend/roommate of Hugh Grant’s character in Notting Hill. A bit of a chameleon.

Christine

Honestly, I don't think R&T missed anything important at all, though. They got a lot of details I missed even after watching the movie a few times myself. Besides, the movie has a subtitle that they read anyway. This was such a long movie, and re-watching it with R&T helped me get through the darker scenes. I really, really love this one! :)

Take a Ticket

Appreciate that, when you watch something for the first time it is hard to know what might be important etc, we can't be silent the whole movie but yeah we do read the subs all the time :)

Alissonbecker94

Fair enough, Im just afraid they are gonna miss a lot of important stuff in a particular scene next movie. I dont wanna spoil but I think you know what scene

Christine

I wouldn't worry about it, to be honest. They are as smart as a whip. ;)

Lucas V

Yessss, was hoping to see this pop up tonight

I hope you guys are planning to watch the Fantastic Beasts films after you're done with Harry Potter

Beth

I had no idea that was Rhys Ifans in this movie. He’s always great!

Wendy Sparks

I like the change here for Hedwig. Being proactive - rather than being just taking a stray shot while in his cage. But I see both perspectives - as the book death is more about the random senselessness of death during war. It's hard to lose these characters, but when stakes are this high - there has to be losses. Though part of me wishes the movies made different choices. (Like the way the original Jurassic Park kept a popular character alive, that had died in Crichton's book.)

Dylan

The wand is one of those details that’s so obvious to notice on a second watch, a bit less so first time around. Hind sight is 20/20 and all that.

Started on youtube watching your marvel reactions, had to join the patreon after seeing you guys start HP. Love the videos theyre great, keep it up guys

Anna

To be honest this is my favorite Harry Potter movie. I think it fully succeeds at the dread it's sewing. I also think it's really important to remember how cruel and unusual the propaganda is in this film and how the driving force is the hero's desire to stand up against the tyranny that is sweeping over everyone.

John Borek

I'm okay waiting for War for the Planet of the Apes if you want to watch part 2 first

Marty McGee

There's another great deleted scene when the Dursleys are leaving giving a little nice bit of closure between Harry and Dudley.

Emmy

In the book, one of my favorite parts is the time they spend in Godric's Hollow. In the book, the house looks normal to muggles and only shows it's true blown-up appearance to witches or wizards who approach it. After the fall of Voldemort and Harry's parent's deaths, it became a sort of monument to the magic community. There's a sign that rises up that says it's in honor of the Potters and the violence that tore apart their family. And all around on the bricks are messages carved into them by traveling witches and wizards. Stuff like "Long Live Harry Potter" and other things.

sierra's reaction corner

I love the tone of this movie so much! It's oppressively bleak. There's so much to say about this movie and explanations on what was missing or unexplained from the books, but I'm exhausted so all I'll say is I hope you guys get the chance to read them one day!

RuinFox

I got a bit scared when Rob asked if that teacher that Voldemort killed "is she dead?" but Trin kept him on track mentioning it was the killing curse , like thats the whole reason Harry Potter (the person) is so famous because hes the only person known to have survived the killing curse xD.

Ae Jae Meade

For the next reaction you guys should do the deleted scenes of part one. Important stuff from the Durslys

Issie Taylor

The sounds I made when I was in the cinema crying over Dobby's death was literally embarrassing lol. Hope you guys watch the 20 year reunion when you're finished!! xx

Anonymous

I don't know why to this day I still tear up for dobbie's death he's just a CGI character why and I'm freaking cry for anything else but great reaction guys to this movie of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows it was amazing watching you guys react to it can't wait for part 2 The hype is real

Ae Jae Meade

You can actually visit Dobbys grave at Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire

Yes absolutely one of my favorites, I think some of the deleted scenes from Deathly Hallows are absolutely worth watching / reacting to before Deathly Hallows part 2, if Rob and Trin see this I’m happy to make a list for them to react to :)

Anna Möllervärn

Loved Harry Potter since the first book. Love the movies. Yes I’m a Potterhead. So I beg you to please, please watch the last movie soon!! I think you’re really gonna like it ⚡️

Alyssa Dyson

I know everyone was super sad about Dobby (I was too) but for me reading this book, Hedwigs death hit the hardest. It was like the last bit of Harry's childhood/innocence being killed off. Super tough read. Movies didnt do her justice.

Snax

i was not sad at all tbh. dobby to me was the harry potter version of jarjar binks. it's been so long since i read the books (only once when they first released), that i can't remember how i felt about him on the pages, but on film i detested him. so many people cried when he died and all i could think was, finally. i think it was the voice they gave him. i'm honestly happy they didn't introduce the female house elf (there was one in the books, right? i could be wrong), because i'm sure her voice would have just made my ears bleed. loved kreacher(sp?)'s voice. but dobby was just not it for me. i do remember crying for hedwig, but they really didn't do her justice in the films. i think they just had too much to fit in that these connections to characters in the books were hard to transfer to film. but talking about the disappointments in the film adaptations is not a novel i will be writing. this here is long enough.
