Between this and Captain America it's very interesting to see a non American reaction. They're soo incredibly steeped in racism it's actually fascinating to this viewpoint.

Yesss finally! Welcome to the Jordan Peele catalog! All of his horror movies are fantastic and I have been waiting for you to watch "Get Out" for the longest. This movie i incredibly acted, icky and all around uncomfortable, but still entertaining on rewatches, despite or even moreso knowing the twist. It's especially fun for me to watch white people, but also non Americans watch it lmao the discomfort at certain experiences is highly entertaining I have to admit. Most of the racism and microaggressions shown here are pretty clear, but there's still a bunch of scenes and lines that tend to go over heads, it's fascinating. Daniel Kaluuya as Chris is amazing, he's such a good actor. And yes he was Okoye's husband W'Kabi in Black Panther. Besides an episode of Black Mirror, I believe "Get Out" was his break out role! He stars in Jordan Peele's 3rd film "Nope" as well (praying you get to watch this eventually). And he's British! Another face you've seen before is the character of Andre/Logan, the guy who was taken in the opening of the movie and had the freak out with the flash, played by LaKeith Stanfield. You saw him in "Knives Out", he was one of the detectives helping Daniel Craig.

i tend to get tired of people saying 'just show him your id' when that part comes up. he doesn't need to see his id. i understand you think it'll be over once he shows him and he should just do as he's told. but no. the cop had no reason to ask him for his id and using the situation as an excuse to do so is bullshit. i have to remember sometimes though that not everyone experiences the injustice in this and they don't understand how it's not just simply about showing id and moving on. i hoped you guys would've understood, but it's a lot for people who don't experience it to understand i guess.

There is a lot going on in this movie. Like: Rose was "protecting" from the cop to keep the police from IDing him for when he will go missing later, the deer/mother hit by a car metaphor runs so deep, The Armitage's victims are like his mom, left helpless and dying with no one really looking for them, we saw with Dre that even though he was reported missing, the cops didn't care to investigate at all, and Chris left Rose to die in the street, which in his mind is the worst way to leave someone, no one will look for her, she could be saved but won't be. There is so much more: Chris picks cotton to save himself, the way people treat Chris at the party is horrifyingly realistic, camera phones being the thing to point out a horrible thing being done to black people.

There are so many amazing details in this movie. Jordan peele specifically made decisions like having it be cotton that ended up saving him. Then there's all the white people showing up inside of black limousines foreshadowing them wanting to he transplanted inside of a black man. The fact that Chris had to make conscious decisions to try not to kill any of the white people if possible because of how it's going to portray him with the police after he escapes this rich white family... Chris chooses to save "grandma" after hitting her with the car because no one did that for his mom. So many more amazing details but those were the bigger ones.

The haunting of Hill House would be an awesome show to watch for Rob and Trin: it has everything they enjoy, some mystery, some drama, amazing characters and writing and it's shot beautifully. I would call it a psychological horror though

Yeah 100% get those feels, I think its a different culture in the UK and France, not ofc saying there aren't big problems still but we don't have a shared history with it as the US has, i think its a lot easier for us as countries to be more naïve to it unless particularly tuned into the issues or of course experiencing it ourselves, is why movies like this are great as the message and perspective of the writer seeps in with the subtext of the rest of the movie even if someone's not consciously aware of some of the social commentary earlier on

This movie was a big surprise cos Jordan Peele was one half of "Key and Peele", comedic duo, the other being Keegan-Michael Key (who has appeared in SNL and played President Obama's Anger Translator at White House Correspondent's Dinner) but Jordan Peele revealed himself as a big horror movie buff. The dad IS from Cabin in the Woods, he's the one that was fantasising about a Merman the whole time. Not sure if you realised at the end cos you seemed confused by "Grandpa" and "Grandma" but the housekeeper and the gardener were the Armitage seniors, the old man and woman in the "orientation video", they were the first patients, with the "vessels" being the ones shown in the last of Rose's photos (I don't think you ever actually learn their real names). As others have pointed out there's TONS of symbolism in the movie, deftly woven into the story, Peele's other movies aren't quite as intricate as this one in that regard but they're still definitely worth a watch. He's a very talented filmmaker. I found "Us" (2019) every bit as creepy as this one, if not even more so. "Nope" (2022) is a good and entertaining film but I found the ending disappointing visually.

judging from the start of the film and they are all alone in a dark back road I thought it safer if he showed the ID and went on their way. I did say and agree he does not have to show it by law. Hope this makes sense because it was not really about a real life situation but a movie I felt was going to end up with a few deaths.

Oohhh Ive been waiting so long for you guys to do this movie!! It has so many undertones and it's brilliantly shown in this artistic way. Jordan Peele(of Key & Peele, if you know that comedic duo) has another "horror" film called US. Its just as good as this one. Great reaction guys!!!

Don't worry if you want more, Jordan Peele has two other movies US, and Nope. Both are great and are equally as unique and interesting as Get Out. I think you'll come to love Jordan Peele movies

for sure. i wasn't trying to make a dig at you at all. just pointing out how racial profiling is seen from different eyes and how even though i know people don't experience the same thing, i'm still shocked when people think that profiling can be handled by simply trying to remain 'non confrontational'. the blame then gets put on the victim (even if unintentional), when in reality it's still the other who's at fault. it's a mindset that's still steeped in ignorance and some need to make a conscious effort to change.

Yeah no offence taken, just making sure our commentary is always based in the movie or show we are watching. Seen a lot of youtube shorts when people refuse to show ID, totally love it and support it ❤️ only wanted to clarify it from a movie point of view.

Like a lot of others have said, it is interesting to see how non-Americans react to this movie because so many of the microagressions and much of the symbolism is pretty specific to our history. I am curious to know how others reacted when he found the girlfriend's photographs. It didn't occur to me for a second that she wasn't part of it at that point. I assumed the change in her behavior was purely meant to show Chris discovering the truth, not the audience. It makes me wonder if that's another thing that American culture has trained some of us to fear intrinsically.

I can absolutely say a lot of it is the US culture thing, am British myself and for a large chunk of my life I'd totally have reacted to most of this show in the same way as Rob + Trin however in recent years for various reasons have become very familiar with US race issues after BLM and such and I guess become a lot more educated on US culture around race, and a lot of it feels obvious to me now where it just wasn't before. Not saying racism and prejudice and 'white being default' aren't big issues in the UK psyche, but in the US there's a really really kind of... I don't know... palpable and sore in-your-face aspect where in the UK, if am honest, a lot of the racial issues and conflicts are more likely involving people of middle eastern or persian decent. With the history of slavery and Jim Crow and stuff like that, the US is just hyper aware in a way we're not so its completely understandable to me that your average non american would just see past a lot of these things.

I think most people would say that as a way of thinking it's the safest option yes the cop is being racist and has no right to ask see his ID but he also carries a gun I assume, I know he would probably still try and find another angle to cause him grief sadly

Wow what a temper tantrum. Cool to know that you're speaking for the entire world, but racism is not an issue in my country at least. We generally don't differentiate between different skin colors, because who the hell cares, we're all people. Of course there are some racists, but they're usually not the smartest people. Anyways my point is that the focus on "race" is maybe 1% compared to the US

I don’t have much to say about “GET OUT” it’s not a very deep movie and I have never experienced this movie in theaters. I ran across this movie randomly on the couch, so to me it’s one of those movies you just turn your brain off and watch. I like to label them as cozy, comfy movies. I like the acting and the mystery, it’s not a movie I would particularly seek out or watch the movie again. This isn’t my type of movie but I still enjoyed myself. My favorite character is rod, I like his charisma and enthusiasm. If I’m being a little bit honest for a minute, if the roles from the character were switched or reversed to the character of rod and Chris. I would be more invested in “get out” I can imagine rod’s reaction to all the weirdness in that house to be hilarious, almost like a comedy. But that’s just my outlook. I’ll “GET OUT” now.
