WandaVision 2021 S01E05 On a Very Special Episode FULL REACTION

I don't think it was Diff'rent Strokes, I think it was actually Family Ties. Diff'rent Strokes was the one with the 2 black kids with a rich White dad and "Whuchu talkin bout Willis?" You guys REALLY should have watched the X-Men movies before starting this.

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

So the big deal with this episode is the fact Evan Peters is playing Pietro/Peter instead of Aaron Taylor-Johnson who of course played the character in Age of Ultron. Evan Peters played Quicksilver in the Fox X-Men universe who became a beloved character because of his performance and amazing scenes as the character. The X-Men films take place in it's own continuity created in 2000 with X-Men so it's separate to the MCU even though the later X-Men films released side by side with the MCU films. People did try to connect them together like Nick Fury mentioning Mutants in a delete scene in Iron Man 1 and it makes sense for Marvel to connect there two biggest franchises but unlike Sony who allowed Spider-Man into the MCU Fox was much more closed off to the idea and that's why we haven't seen the X-Men yet. As Quicksilver and Wanda were both Avengers and X-Men characters in the comics Marvel was able to make a deal with Fox that they could use Pietro and Wanda in Age of Ultron but could not refer to them by their actual hero/villain names or make reference to them being Mutants. Also as Marvel now own the rights to the X-Men since Disney bought Fox in 2019 they're free to have Even Peters return as the face of Quicksilver and there's nothing Fox can do as they're both owned by Disney now and Marvel has the X-Men movie rights. So with Evan showing up in this show it's just the matter of how and why Even Peters is the face of this Quicksilver something alot of fans got worked up about but I'll let you discover that for yourselves in the coming episodes.

WandaVision takes place right after Endgame. Wanda almost beat Thanos in Endgame, and they showed Monica coming back to life after Hulk did the snap five years later.

Ahh damn such a shame you haven't seen the X-Men movies, Evan Peters was Pietro in those, so it was a huge deal when he turned up in the MCU, I lost my little mind when he was at the door!

Rashad Walker

To clarify a few of your questions....Wanda was also snapped so the events of this show is several weeks after endgame

Matthew

Why though? There was no connection to that character/universe beyond a *wink wink-- nudge nudge* to the audience. Adding 7 x-men movies for what ultimately amounted to just a cameo isn't really necessary.

As a few people have mentioned, this is set after Endgame. Meaning Wanda came back, fought Thanos, Thanos died, and this takes place in the aftermath. Hope that helps. Loving these reactions!

Wanda scared me a little because of what she's doing to these people, but I understand the grief. The boys are the representation of what she dreamed of having with Vision, and that's sad. And when Vision started to get angry with her, he was justified, but it was still terrifying.

You guys should really watch the X-men movies

Octavia

In episode 4, you saw Monica reintegrate... people rematerializing all over the hospital... returning after Bruce/Hulk snapped them all back. Then a bit later, she returned to SWORD, and went out to meet Jimmy outside of Westview. So, as everyone is saying, after Endgame... by probably a couple of weeks-ish. And we also saw that it wasn't an 'editor'... it was Darcy watching the show and taking notes.

Octavia

This one was in the style of Family Ties, with a side of Growing Pains. And the picnic in the park bit in the opening theme was a direct nod to Elizabeth Olsen's older twin sisters' series, Full House.

Evan Peters plays Quicksilver aka Peter Maximoff in the X-Men films. You would have had to watch the X-Men movies before WandaVision to understand that. 😬

Phase 4 aka The COVID Phase, is a little all over the place in regards to the MCU timeline. Spider-Man:Far From Home was set 6-8 months after the events of Endgame. WandaVision takes place 3-4weeks after the events of Endgame. It will go back and forth like this for all of phase 4. Some shows and movies do flat out say how long it has been, in episode 4 of WandaVision Haywood tells Monica that it has been 3 weeks since the events of Endgame when Smart Hulk/Banner snapped everyone back. Haywood says Monica is the first to report back to work at S.W.O.R.D since “The Blip” happened. There are some shows and movies in phase 4 that never actually say how long it has been. With one exception, all of phase 4 happens after Endgame, some show’s & movies are set weeks after Endgame and some occur several months to a year or two after Endgame. The one exception is a show/movie that technically takes place at the same time as the time travel part and final battle of Endgame. No spoilers, but you guys will probably figure out which show or movie it is pretty quickly once you start watching it 😜

X-MEN!!! You guys should absolutely watch the X-Men movies, especially since you have already seen Deadpool. The X-Men movies take place in their own universe and timeline. Just a heads up the “timeline” of the X-Men movies does get a reset at some point so it can get a little confusing. In the first Deadpool movie when Colossus tries to take Deadpool to the “Professor” Deadpool asks him “McAvoy or Stewart? these timeline are so confusing.” Referring to how messed up the X-Men timeline gets at some point. It is best to watch the X-Men movies and just go with it 😆 Now that the MCU has access to the X-Men, you will see more and more winks and nods to their existence and or future existence in the MCU. Mutants are coming and we still don’t how much of the previous X-Men movies will be relevant, so watching them is a very good idea. X-Men and mutants are an important part of Marvel’s comic history and they will be important in the MCU once they have been properly and fully introduced. As far as powers and abilities go, you guys haven’t seen anything like what some of the Mutants can do, some don’t need Infinity Stones to snap half of the universe out of existence, they can do it with a single thought.

NYStreetPunisher

Whoever told you guys to watch Marvel movies, should have told you guys to watch ALL the marvel films including the ones by FOX and NETFLIX. They gonna pop up in some of these future films and now Rob and Trin just witness a character they never seen before, and its going to happen again.

*Edit: I forgot about another movie/show that doesn’t take place after Endgame, but way before it, in fact years before right after Captain America: Civil War. So, correction there are 2 phase 4 installments that happen either during or before the events of Endgame. Sorry for my mistake and for any confusion.

Wanda and Captain Marvel both fought Thanos in Endgame. Wanda single-handedly incapacitated him and started tearing his armor off piece by piece. In response Thanos ordered a strike ("blitz") on everyone on the battle field, including his own troops, to save himself. Captain Marvel arrived and destroyed his ship stopping the strike. As stated above by another comment Wandavision takes place a few weeks after Endgame. Monica was snapped away in the Blip as was Wanda. At the end of Endgame the Avengers brought everyone back but not 5 years previous when Thanos initially snapped, but in the present. So everyone who was snapped lost 5 years of their life. Vision wasn't snapped away, he was killed by Thanos so he didn't come back from the Blip, hence Darcy's line in episode 4, "Look I know it's been a crazy few years on this planet but he's dead right? Not blipped, dead." At this time, all the Infinity stones are gone. Thanos destroyed them. And the new stones that the Avengers went back in time to get so they could undo the Blip are also gone. Put back where they came from in time by Captain America. So there are no stones any longer. Wanda does not have the Mind Stone. She was experimented on by Hydra with Loki's staff that contained the Mind Stone, thereby her powers come from the Mind Stone but she doesn't have it. Vision did have the Mind Stone in his head but Thanos took it killing Vision in the process. But that stone was one of the stones destroyed by Thanos. So it is a mystery how Vision in Wandavision has the Mind Stone. Thank you to the other previous comments above for explaining some or part of what I just wrote. I hope this helps everyone who might be a little lost.

BadCode

Since we've known her, Wanda has had her powers derived from the mind stone.
