Stand By Me 1986 FULL REACTION

Comments

Count Monte-Cristo

It was first time watching this movie for me too and it gave me major 80's Tom Sawyer vibes. Long time haven't seen any movie with such a pleasure, except GOTG 3. Thanks to everyone who suggested this movie, and thanks to R&T for picking it

Count Monte-Cristo

also, It seems like life has been very rough to Rob. 23 years old man and looks older then me and I am mid 30

Jerry O'Connell plays Sheldon's older brother, Georgie, in The Big Bang Theory. He looks way, way different now, doesn't he? I couldn't believe it myself, when I first found out. The best thing about Stephen King's stories, is that he knows kids, and what scares them. Adults too, tho. What I personally love about his novels, is that he takes the simplest fear, and blows it up a hundred-fold. He grew up in a small town with very little to do for entertainment, so he made up stories. Kinda like Gordy. I forget how much I love this movie, until I watch it again. Read the book only once, but I like the movie more, which is rare. Glad to have watched it again with you guys. Yes, like you say, it's very relatable. Can't wait for Breakfast Club.

Damn that was a really wholesome movie and the kids are phenomenal actors, they actually make the crying scenes emotional. A lot of child actors can’t make those scenes too believable and they end up being kinda cringe.

Great movie! One of my favorites. When Gordy cries after they find the body, I cry too...every time. When he tells us that Chris was killed, I cry. Love this movie. Castle Rock Oregon is a real place :) I don't live too far from there. Great reaction, like always :)

All the kids here are so genuinely compelling... they feel so real that we're easily immersed in the story with them. But River Phoenix was an exceptional talent. This year will be the 30th anniversary of his death... which is so strange to think about. (His younger brother Joaquin, who was with him the night he died, carried on his acting legacy... and recently had a son that he named, River.) To anyone wanting to check out other River Phoenix movies, I highly recommend... Explorers, The Mosquito Coast (w/ Harrison Ford), Running on Empty (for which RP received an Oscar nomination), and Sneakers (much fun w/ Robert Redford, Dan Akyroyd, Mary McDonnell, Sidney Poitier).

You guys should react to some military movies like The American Sniper' The Outpost' JarHead' full Metal Jacket 'Saving Private Ryan etc.

Lee Shafer

This was a book Stephen king wrote about his childhood he actually witnessed a kid getting hit by a train when he was just a kid in his interview he said it’s autobiographical

Gordy, played by Will Wheaton, is also in "Big Bang Theory", playing himself.

I learned a lot about you guys, Rob and Trin. I know you don't share much about yourselves much and hearing about the little tidbits made me reflect about my life. I was born May 4th 1970, so I am 53 now. My elementary school years, I went to a private Catholic school instead of public school until the 7th Grade. By 8th grade I went back to public school as the 8th grade in Catholic school is when you go through confirmation to be a part of the Catholic Church. In 8th grade, I began to come out of my shell and began making friends. Also, the High school came over once a month and their band held pep rallies. I thought the drum line was so cool, that I wanted to be able to join in 9th grade. I was told by the band director to take private drum lessons so I could try out. Well I I did and became a part of the drum Corp. as a Cymbal player. I was on cloud 9! I was part of the band click, and the drummers (including us cymbal players) were considered the coolest of the band geeks. The other click I was a part of were the Duranies. I am the biggest Duran Duran fan you will ever meet, I own all their albums and B-side and import albums. I have seen them so far 18 times, and on Trin's birth year of 1984, I was a actually in a Duran Duran music video for their song The Reflex! The '80s was my favorite decade, big hair, neon and bright colors, the music, the movies. It was a fabulous decade for me. I graduated high school in 1989. I tried to stay in touch with the friends I made, but life got in the way. I took some classes at a Junior College, you know the basics...but I got hired on at Microsoft, then I began working for the largest Telephone companies in the United States in the 90s and climbed the corporate ladder and became a director for Logistics. Then in the 2000s layoffs were coming and so I went back to school and got my Bachelors in Nursing with an Associates in Radiology. I made friends at the University, but again after graduation we drifted apart. But I have a circle of friends at my church. This movie for me brought back so many fond memories. Just an FYI, the video I am in was for the song The Reflex, Duran Duran's 1st number 1 hit. Great movie and great reaction!

For some reason my Amazon version played slower or you guys played faster? Tried running the full length yt at .75 but it was too slow. (And Rob sounded extra chill. 😎.) Speradic synchronization aside I loved every minute. As always.

It really does take you back to your childhood no mobile phones, game systems, 4 x TV channels, 1 x TV in the house, riding bikes with friends until the street lights came on, going into your house at lunch expecting your parents to feed all your friends without warning getting into all sorts of trouble, makes seeing one of my girls, house bound unable to speak to anyone accept me (her mum) and her twin sister at times all due to bullying at school, panic attacks, and now severe social anxiety on going now for the last 3 years :(

You don't have to run your own copy with them. In the post under the youtube video there are links to the uncut full versions. No blurring or cutting.

I was like 13 or 14 when this came out. It made me feel some type of way. I remember being scared of everything. Them having a gun, the leeches, and they just kept saying dead body lol I remember I hated that. I didn't understand it all till I watched it when I was older. RIP River Phoenix such a loss of talent too early. Loved him in Sneakers. Great reaction was nice to revisit this with y'all. <3

Annie, no, during the waterfall scene, I was the 2nd guy on the left looking up as water was splashed on us. I had great seats center section, ground level 12 rows from the stage and I had an aisle seat to so I could step out to rock out. They filmed the water splashing scene 2 hours before the concert, and for our troubles, we got $1,000 in Merch and we got to meet the band!

CheshireKat528

Great reaction to a true classic. It was funny that Rob kept mentioning Feldman as “Mouth” All I kept thinking was “Edgar Frog, Vampire Hunter” If you guys haven’t seen the movie “Delores Claiborne”(1995) I recommend it as another movie that is not so much a “horror movie” but yet, is a horror movie that is based on a Stephen King novel.

I missed this yesterday! I am so glad you picked this even if it did not win the polls, its one of my favorites from the 80s. I still remember seeing this in the movies when. It came out I was about 20 and I loved it. During covid I had my two teenage sons watch it and they were surprised how much they liked it. I am sure it was mentioned in one of the comments but Vern was played by the actor who played Sheldon's brother in Big Bang Theory. All the kid actors were so good in this movie. Such a shame River Phoenix died so young.
