so deamon definitely does love and care about rhaenyra and loved and cared about viserys, i think the most revealing part of his convo with rhaenyra about how he feels is when he says, "my brothers throne." in his mind the Hightower's taking the throne was against his brothers wishes who he is still grieving for and sees it as massive disrespect to not only his family but to his brother. Daemon is chaos. he unleashes that chaos when he doesnt know how to cope with what happens around him. He lost his brother, his unborn daughter, and his step son/nephew. He is not a good person, but he feels things extremely intensely and doesnt know how to deal with it. He is also an attack dog. he believes that its his job to protect his family and is willing to be the villain to achieve it if thats what it takes. He's exremely frustrated bc he sees rhaenyra taking the same path viserys took with not using him as said attack dog and letting him do what he does best and not being willing to do what it takes.
