Black Panther Wakanda Forever 2022 FULL REACTION

Comments

Definitely one of the stronger Phase 4 entries - my one complaint being that some of the sequences feel a little drawn out - but there is still so much to love about this movie. The handling of Chadwick Boseman's passing was beautifully done, the fact that events in the first film (Kilmonger burning the herb) directly impacted the plot of this one is brilliant writing and of course the production design, visuals and music. My favorite bit: the iconic punchy brass of the Black Panther theme - which we don't hear until Shuri first dons her Black Panther suit in the final act - is now mixed with synthesizer to represent Shuri's use of technology to synthesize the heart-shaped herb, thus creating a new Black Panter.

This is one of my favorite MCU movies ever. And it's a stronger contender for my favorite out of the two Black Panther movies, surprisingly. This was just SO beautiful and powerful and had an amazing adversary in Namor and the Talokan people. Shuri has been through so much in such a short amount of time, it's actually devastating. I loved what this movie did with her and how it allowed both her character and actress Letitia Wright to grow, To cler up some misunderstandings, Namor's end conversation was intentionally up to interpretation I think. It's possible he's biding his time to attack Wakanda and the world again, or he's telling the truth and genuinely wants to keep Wakanda as an ally. But he wasn't drawing him defeating the Black Panther, just drawing their fight as a way to record history. Personally I even interpreted it as a sign that he respected her as a worthy opponent. Also, M'Baku was not challenging to become Black Panther. He was challenging for the role of King. Which he was showing he'd be well suited for all movie. The King and the role of Black Panther have often been the same person, but they don't have to be. T'Challa was both, but his father King T'Chaka gave up the role of Black Panther to T'Challa while he remained King. Now M'Baku will be King while Shuri carried the Black Panther mantle. Shuri has made some progress on her grief, but I think she's still too angry and emotionally unavailable to be Queen as well right now. Namor and his people are so fascinating to me. I loved every second of him on screen as well, his intensity was amazing. His actor, Tenoch Huerta, is amazing. What I love is how the MCU took Namor, an OG Marvel Comics characters and completely changed the origins and backstory but made it make sense for the world of the MCU and still be compelling. In the comics Namor is Namor the Submariner and his people are basically the Atlanteans. You compared him to DC's Aquaman and Namor was quite literally Marvel Comic's version of Aquaman, although Namor came 2 years before Aquaman. In the comics as well Namor's name came from spelling Roman backwards, but the MCU making the origins a cursed name from Spanish and blending him and his people with actual Mayan culture and religion is so cool to me! Especially considering the level of relatability this creates between Namor and Shuri. Loved loved this movie and I cry everytime I watch it because I think they honored Chadwick Boseman beautifully. A lot of Marvel fans were actually made going into this movie and even after because they believed that the MCU should've simply recasted T'Challa's actor and continued on with the story, but Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa meant to much to so many people and he was FRIENDS with the people behind these movies, so I don't see how recasting him or even using CGI to put him in some scenes wou;d've been even considered as a respectful choice by the people who loved him. Introducing his son T'Challa was genius because it allows room for a new actor to come in the future as T'Challa and take up the mantle, furthering stories from the comics.
