For what it's worth, in Japan it's... I wouldn't say "common", but not too unlikely either, to be scouted by a talent agency. There are people whose jobs revolve around scouting idols on the streets. As for the rumours themselves, it's a 50/50. There have indeed been cases of idols entering a relationship with their producer. Or, worse, it's unfortunately even more common for the producers to abuse their idols thanks to their position (one of the main problems of the idol industry). From that point of view it makes sense to be wary, even more so for someone like Aqua, who knows very well how shady the industry is.
