Heartbreaking episode. What the Light Novel managed to convey through words, KyoAni managed to convey through animation. And keep in mind that this was only the 2nd chapter of the novel. Unlike the anime, which focused on developing the character of Violet first, in the novel you drown in this maelstrom of emotions from the get-go. "Mom is crying. Sorry. Sorry for making you cry. That wasn’t my intention. I just wanted you to take care of your own body. So that… So that… I could be with you even for a second longer, if possible. That was it. Is this… my fault? This episode had moved me in ways unlike any media that I’ve ever watched. The moment that destroyed me emotionally was when Violet broke down in front of her coworkers, sobbing uncontrollably over Ann’s fate of being alone.
