"His fake smile... and the subtle truth that bleeds through it." My interpretation of this line of Fiona's, with the visuals that go with it (notice how Loid's eyes move and relax; this is a sign of an authentic smile), leads me to believe that Loid's practiced 'fake smile' now has a genuine happiness (the 'subtle truth') behind it when he's with his new family, and Fiona immediately recognizes this since she was trained by him and knows him well. Hence why she becomes more withdrawn and downcast, and leaves shortly thereafter. She recognizes the genuine care he has for Yor and Anya, and is in pain that she isn't part of that. I don't mind Fiona's character. She's prickly and cold, but goofy and entertaining as well. Spy x Family does well at balancing the serious, poignant, often tragic underlying notes of the setting and characters' stories, with the overall comedy and lightheartedness of the show and genre itself. Yor > Fiona for Loid, though. Any day, all day, every day. ;-)
