It is such a great anime! Season 2 is actually coming out soon as well. The visuals, music, worldbuilding, and characters are all so amazing it really mesmerizes you! I really wish you could watch it, I think youd like it alot :) !

Great show, great music. One of my favorite things about this show is how it includes a variety of mystical folklore. The setting is primarily in Britain, so you're not just dealing with the typical Japanese yokai and such. You have your faeries and spirits, to mythical beasts, sorcerer and mages and even some Biblical references, the world setting includes it all.

This has been on my watch list for actual years and would not be against watching it for the first time with wor Gaz. OH! Its Studio WIT! as a reminder Studio Wit did the first 3 seasons of Attack On Titan as well as Spy X Family!

Excellent show, a very thoughtful, nuanced type of storytelling that definitely is the 'show don't tell' style and touches on a lot of deep, emotional themes. So can be a little misunderstood sometimes by people who aren't willing to slow down and be careful to catch details and the many layers (you seem like the type to take time to really appreciate and 'get' what's going on; I think it'd be a great fit to do a reaction series on). It really is a beautiful, enchanting anime in the very best sense. The art and music are excellent. It can get dark at times, but one of its core themes is self-love/self-acceptance and hope, all throughout. It is ok that your impressions of the 'ancient magus' are to be a bit creeped out, I think that's very much deliberate on the storyteller's part, hehe. First impressions (based just on openings/artwork) of the dynamic between him and the redheaded girl can leave some people a bit uncomfortable by what might visually be perceived as a potential one-sided power dynamic in the relationship, but without spoiling anything I can say that that is not the case, which is developed and made especially apparent as the story progresses and the characters grow along with it. It's very much the old and familiar Beauty and the Beast dynamic, no less enjoyable and touching for all that it's a 'tale as old as time'; it's a familiar human story which is why we love it. (if anything, especially by the end, the girl has more and deeper clout in the relationship than her counterpart; which is another very familiar human story just maybe, lololol) There's a first season, two three-part OVAs (one that's a prequel, that is generally recommended to watch halfway-ish through the first season, around eps 12 or 13; and one that takes place afterwards), and then a second season coming out soon this year.
