How to describe Evangelion… there are mecha, but mecha are not the focal point of the anime. Most of the anime focuses on the psychological part of the characters, what drives them, what breakes them, how can they be deceived, how can they be used. Atop this is a massive sci-fi plot, too difficult to describe without giving away spoilers. And while there are action sequences, the action part itself is not what you should analyze: who is in the midst of it all, why, who is the one responsible for that situation and for what purpose, what are they trying to achieve and who are they trying to fool. It’s one of the most beautiful and complex anime ever, and one you necessarily have to watch multiple times before you manage to unravel some of its plotlines.

Evangelion is considered a Cult Classic in terms of anime, it was a shoestring budget so much so that all those sketchy and pastel flashes of characters you see in this video were because they ran out of budget for the last episode and had to go buy stuff from a stationary store. Those episodes were later revived as The End Of Evangelion, a feature length movie that expands on the original animes end. On top of that we have another 4 movies. And thats all i can really say because of how spoiler heavy any discussion can get. Needless to say theres a lot of content to enjoy! Edit: Eva was first broadcasted in 1995, starting in october and ran until march 96 as mentioned previously there were subsequent movies! The end of evangelion is from 1997 , the first of the four movies after which was released a full 10 years later in 2007, two years later we get the second of four , 2009. The third was released in 2012 and the 4th and as far as i know final movie was released in 2021.

I need to rewatch eva. I never saw the movies. I loved everything about it, but i hated the main character so much.
