I really enjoyed this discussion! The Noah Baumbach of it all for me is what absolutely made the movie not click for me. The undertone of everything was pedantic when it should have been more fun/whimsical. Avaryl voiced a lot of what I was bumping up against. The fact that the 2nd Rhea speech was leaning heavily into womanhood equating to motherhood made me wince in the theater.

I liked this movie, I didn’t love it. It got depressing…immediately. It was depressing. My 23 year old niece was going to take her 5 year old sister (my other niece) and I told my mom “I don’t think this is for a 5 year old. It’s not inappropriate but a five year old would find this very boring.”
