Was it possible to send mail to soldiers in the Grande Armée? If so, how would you address it and how would it get there?

I was admittedly surprised when the Neapolitan 7th Royal African regiment was not mentioned in Dispatch #14. I have known about them for many years as there are 2 plates of their uniforms in Philip Haythornthwaite's Retreat from Moscow book. A telling extract "they were regarded as the worst unit of the (French) army; when transferred to Neapolitan service ... they were superior to any existing unit of the Neapolitan forces!" Not a lot of love for the Neapolitan army from historians of the period!

We got a glimpse of how conquered populations felt, but have you come across any information about of how the German population felt about the French and Napoleon's empire in the allied states of the Rheinbund? I know the Wittlesbachs were glad to work with Napoleon to settle old scores and petty disputes left over from the Reich, and they gained a great deal from it, but did this sentiment trickle down to the common people?
